Didn't something similar happen to the woman voicing Siri? She didn't know either that her voice was used on every iPhone. But I think in her case she knew at least that she had done a generic "virtual voice" gig.

They do this on purpose to under pay people. If she knew she was going to be the voice on every iPhone they'd have to pay her more.

I used to do voice work and this is depressingly common. I'd get requests to "do some simple readings for a research project" or similar vaguely phrased nonsense. Sometimes they were honest and offered a depressingly small lump sum or royalties plan. I always refused, fuck that.

I don't think this is particularly AI issue, more like corporate greed issue. Some company have fooled her to write contract that allows them to use her audio recordings to do this without her. This happens in many different industries.
