Meanwhile On Grad

Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

Why can't we just agree that both the US and DPRK are undemocratic?

🤦

I'm tired of seeing these .ml arseholes, how can I block the whole instance??

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 5 points 16 hours ago

In your account settings I think. You can do so in your web client or app you use.

I haven't blocked ml of hexbear cause I find some of their content interesting. I always like to consider all sides.

Any country that says that they don't have any "homeless or beggars" is either lying, or killing people on the street.

Or living in a labour camp.

[–] ilega_dh@feddit.nl 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Ah that’s what they mean with “right to work”!

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 5 points 9 hours ago

Hey they have “right to work” in Florida! They must be the most “Democratic” place in the world!

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

The part they don't like talking about is the police approach homeless people in China and give them the option to either do whatever job tbey are given or go to prison and dissapear.

[–] OmegaMan@lemmings.world 7 points 20 hours ago

I'm guessing they mean literacy? Who knows.

When they refer to South Korea as Occupied Korea, I almost can’t breathe from laughing.

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 117 points 1 day ago (15 children)

You can criticize the US without making other authoritarian states look good. Both can be bad

[–] Saledovil@sh.itjust.works 4 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Also US citizens are allowed to criticize the US.

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 13 hours ago

Pretty sure North Korean citizens are also allowed to criticize the US so no fundamental difference here (/s if not obvious)

Yeah sure, NK is a total utopia. Especially like the part where it says "Workers are the owner of the means of production" as if they didn't have one dictator that was in charge without anyone really having a choice.

[–] match@pawb.social 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yeah Kim owns the means of production but he also works real hard /s

It's easier when you dont spend your time shitting at work tho.
