NPR just had Steve Bannon and some other Nazi fuck on air the other day.

If anything, NPR is too lenient on this administration.

NPR has been a huge pushover lately. It's been embarrassing.

This will be struck down in the courts because this is a congressional funds appropriation, and not subject to impoundment by the president, which is explicitly illegal.

Nonetheless, this is a terrifying attack on free media and free speech, so support your local NPR and PBS stations if you can

Essentially correct, but I think this will be struck down in the courts and never take effect in any meaningful way because the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is an independent organization that is funded by but in no way controlled by the US government. Also, the member stations that the Corporation funds are all independent organizations who choose to purchase programming from NPR/PBS and there's no way Trump can stop them from doing that.

The people who designed this system knew someone would come along to try to mess with it and intentionally set it up to make that as difficult as possible.

I hope so. I don't trust the courts anymore though. Or Congress for that matter. I guess I have a complete lack of trust in our government now.

Which will be ignored since the Executive doesn't control any of that.

I would love to have that level of optimism again... Here's hoping it actually works out that way

[–] SaltSong@startrek.website 9 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

We hope. Whoever actually pushes the buttons might not understand the proper order of things.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 9 points 13 hours ago

Indeed. I still remember how Trump suspended the TikTok ban before he was actually president just by saying he would do so.

[–] Nyticus@kbin.melroy.org 14 points 15 hours ago

Which is a good silver lining.

If the executive is controlling the treasury then there might be a problem.
