April 27th 2000, Breath of Fire IV first captured hearts as one of Capcom’s most beloved RPGs. 25 years later, it returns – revived by popular demand and fully updated for modern PCs, this iconic classic is now available DRM-free on GOG!

The game joins the GOG Preservation Program with essential upgrades: our enhanced version is fully optimized for modern systems, with Windows 10 and 11 compatibility. Players can enjoy both English and Japanese localizations, along with improved graphics powered by an upgraded DirectX renderer, new display options like Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing and refined gamma correction for better visuals. The audio engine has also been upgraded, restoring missing environmental sounds and adding new configuration options.

This is the ultimate way to experience Breath of Fire IV like never before – now, to celebrate on its silver anniversary, and for years to come!

I would adore a Breath of Fire 3 remaster.

I can't help but think it would do serious numbers on handhelds. This game was so fucking amazing.

Four was good Three was so very very good.

I liked BoFIII a lot, but I loved BoFIV. BoFIII re-release would be awesome, but unfortunately it never had a PC port, so it's a bit unlikely.

BoF3 was always the peak of the series in my eyes and I would be all over a remaster.

Glad I'm not the only one with that view.

Never played BoF4, but glad its on PC and playable now.. Just hope the hype makes BoF3 get the same treatment... cause my PS1 disk has a crack in it and I really miss the world that BoF3 built.

Tbh I'm in the opposite position. Don't recall why or how, but I had BoF4 despite not being familiar with the rest of the series and still adore it. I recall once having tried out BoF3 but I didn't get very far, likely had something else grab my attention so I just dropped BoF3 before giving it a proper chance.

Seeing several of these comments saying several people preferred it over 4 is making me think about giving it another shot.

Yeah, Give it a shot if you have the chance.

Worse case is you've given it a fair shake and still don't like it, and thats perfectly valid.

Its not a bad game, personally I think its in the top ranks for best games of all time, but not every game meshes with every persons likes/dislikes, and its perfectly okay to just shrug your shoulders and say "I gave it a fair shot, but i just couldnt get into it"

Is it uncensored? There were some suggestive and violent scenes that were edited in the US.

25 years wow... surprised that the series basically died after V.

Weird, this game has been on my PCs for decades 😉

Cool game though. If this is more than just AI upscaling, maybe I'll check it out.
