We tried to order pizza on Easter. We then remembered it was Easter, and also all the pizza places are Italian American and pretty catholic so we did not get pizza that day from any place.

I always keep a bag of pizza rolls and fries in the freezer just for this reason…

There's always a pizza place open somewhere within reach

Also, frozen pizza is a thing. Yeah, it can suck, but not all of it sucks equally -- and you can always add your own toppings to make it suck much less. You got options when your pizza joint of choice is closed, if you keep one of those in the freezer for rainy days.

I'm very fortunate our local discount grocery sells fresh pizza dough.

[–] scytale@lemm.ee 1 points 17 hours ago

Yeah, sometimes I just buy one at the grocery store and customize it with ingredients I already have at home. Also, add more mozarella since I have a big bag of it in my fridge.

If you’re in a position where you’re regularly eating frozen pizza, make a Presto Pizzazz Pizza Oven a part of your life.

Yes - it looks like a gimmick
No - it is not.

Depends on where you live. I doubt they have many pizzerias in Somali.

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 1 points 15 hours ago

Interesting question. A quick google maps search shows over 12 listings in the capital of Mogadishu for pizza places that deliver. A more in-depth look seems to confirm that at least a few of them are real and not just AI hallucinations (i.e. they have social media presences with reviews in what appears to be Somali.)

But there don't seem to be as many outside the capital, so you're kinda right.

Well then replace pizza with whatever street/junk food is popular at your location. There's always somewhere to get it.

There’s always somewhere to get it.

No. In my region it isn't so (but it was a decade or so ago, not anymore).

I hate these places. Is it so hard to configure the phone to block calls or make an announcement when the place isn’t open?

This also applies to government agencies. “We’ll shortly be taking your call [in 16 hours when we’re open again]. Please hold the line”

People still call places for takeout in 2025 instead of using the internet to order????

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 7 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Yes, that's the human thing to do

Don't let yourself be controlled by corporate. Mobile apps are just a way to collect lots of private info and to show ads. Even websites a problematic from a privacy perspective

[–] Engywuck@lemm.ee 5 points 16 hours ago

Yes. Not really that different from 2024.

[–] pan0wski@infosec.pub 4 points 17 hours ago

Yes, in many places it's still the default way.

Chick-fil-A, every Sunday. That's when the craving comes.
