The Pope's fucking dead.

He gave JD Vance three chocolate easter eggs, exchanged pleasantries for 17 minutes, and then keeled over and died.

What a way to go.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

Comrades, a little breakdown on Pakistan vs India please. Shit appears to be kicking off and I don't trust either government. All I know is that India is basically fascist with those Hindutva freaks in power, and Pakistan has always been a CIA infested state. Where do we stand from an anti-imperialist standpoint, and who's benefiting from this uncertainty right now.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 15 points 1 hour ago

I think Pakistan is currently under a military goverment and India is an ultra nationalist gov, so i say revolutionary defeatism since both countries being weaken helps the proletariat of both countries

[–] Lemister@hexbear.net 12 points 1 hour ago

Pakistan used to be based before the us once again couped their government, but India has more socialists and could possibly be the epicenter of a next revolution once climate change wrecks the subcontinent. It would probably better for both to lose, especially with their current governments.

[–] Parzivus@hexbear.net 12 points 1 hour ago

India is commiting a slow genocide in Kashmir, no? They've killed tens of thousands of Muslims and tortured many more. Indian soldiers legally can't be prosecuted for anything they do in the province. I'm not hoping for nuclear war today so hopefully we won't see another hot conflict between India and Pakistan, but still.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 8 points 1 hour ago

that they should both (well, in this case 99% india) chill the fuck out inshallah-script

modi benefits probably, another reason for muslim repressions, another series of pogroms, more support for bjp from pushback. Pakistan, don't see particularly how. cia activated cell? also very unlikely unless they are on that strangelove vibe.

i think it's one of those shit happens, strategy of tension benefits type of thingies

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 8 points 1 hour ago

Pakistan is worse than India. India was not a fascist state 10+ years ago and this kind of shit happened all the time, mostly linked to Pakistan.

Where do we stand from an anti-imperialist standpoint,

Uh, might we consider a little revolutionary defeatism?

After very limited battlefield testing since January 2024, and rumours that Russia has started deploying them, we now have video of jet powered Shahed/Geran drones being used on an attack on Ukraine alongside propeller powered drones, at Odessa. The turbojet engines of the new Shahed 238/Geran 3 produce a new distinct noise audible at the beginning and end of the video (the noise in the middle is from the propeller driven Shahed 136/Geran 2 drones), and two jet engine exhausts can be seen glowing in the night sky at the beginning of the video, with one of the drones likely being shot down by AA gunfire, the video cuts so it's unclear. There's also a potential glowing jet exhaust in the middle to the end of the video.

Video of the drone attack

Xcancel mirror

The Shahed 238/Geran 3 is a turbojet engine powered version of the Shahed 136/Geran 2. The PBS TJ150 turbojet engine allows for the 238 to fly much faster than the 136, the 238 can fly at speeds of between 500-600kph/312-375mph in level flight, and 800kph/500mph in a dive. The 136 has a maximum speed of 185 kph/115mph with its MD550 piston engine that powers a propeller. This turbojet engine will also enable the 238 to have a much higher flight ceiling, if that's desired. However , the turbojet engine takes up more space, meaning less fuel onboard and likely a shorter range, and requires jet A1 fuel instead of standard petrol/gasoline. The 238 comes in three versions, one with standard GNSS/INS navigation and guidance like the 136, one with a infrared camera for terminal guidance and potential operator control, and one with a radar seeker for use as an anti radiation munition to take out radars and air defence systems.

UN Warns of Escalating Gang Violence in Haiti, Calls for Urgent International Intervention - Telesur English

Article

The United Nations has issued a stark warning regarding the deteriorating security situation in Haiti, as rampant gang violence spreads to new areas and further destabilizes the nation. María Isabel Salvador Crespo, the UN Special Representative in Haiti, voiced deep concerns during a Security Council meeting, cautioning that the country is nearing “a point of no return.”

“With gang violence expanding into previously unaffected regions, Haitians face growing vulnerability and increasing skepticism about the state’s ability to meet their needs,” Salvador Crespo declared, underscoring the urgent need for decisive international assistance.

The UN official outlined how coordinated attacks by armed groups have strengthened their grip over the capital, Port-au-Prince, and other areas. In response, Salvador Crespo urged the Security Council to act swiftly to address Haiti’s immediate humanitarian and security needs, warning that failure to do so could cement the country’s worsening crisis.

A pressing concern remains the lack of financial resources to support intervention efforts. The Ecuadorian diplomat expressed unease over recent cuts in U.S. international aid, further complicating efforts to stabilize Haiti’s security situation. Additionally, due to the intensifying violence, the UN has significantly reduced its presence in the capital, where gangs now control approximately 85 percent of the territory.

“Without adequate and predictable funding, even a minimal UN presence may become unsustainable—precisely when Haiti needs us most,” Salvador Crespo lamented.

Haiti has long endured the brutality of criminal groups responsible for murders, assaults, thefts, and kidnappings, compounded by ongoing political instability. Since mid-February, a new wave of violence has surged, with gangs extending their operations to sectors that had previously been spared from the unrest.

The European Parliament is in the “final stages” of discussions with Beijing about removing sanctions on its members, smoothing the way for normalised relations with the bloc, according to a spokesperson for the lawmaking body.

“Discussions with the Chinese authorities are continuing and in their final stages,” the spokesperson said.

Great post by Comrade Anas Al-Qadhi, member of the Yemeni Socialist Party:

“Militias? We socialists were the first to theorize this concept in Yemen, and the first to practice it as a path to liberation and struggle.

Comrade Abdel Fattah Ismail was among the first to develop an ideological vision of the revolutionary militia.

Our National Front, which defeated the British Empire, was not a regular army but a fighting popular militia. The National Front, the Popular Militia, the Revolutionary Resistance, and the Revolutionary Democratic Party—all were armed revolutionary formations born from the people.

And comrade Yahya Abu Asba' was the commander of the People's Liberation Army—let’s not forget.

To the US, Britain, Saudi Arabia, these militias were "terrorist" communist heretics who cursed capital, the Gulf rulers, and imperialist circles!

But to the people, they were the spark of revolution and the voice of liberation.

And so are the scruffy Ansar Allah today—those who carry the banner of sovereignty and reject submission.

The name is no slur, no stigma—it is a badge we wear with pride.

It is our revolutionary history. This is the people's war, waged by the free, left or right.

Under Marx’s banner or Ali’s sword, the battle is the same: dignity and sovereignty.

And you, gentle ones and sons of vipers, have the Americans, Saudis, Emiratis, and British fighting for you!

You beg the “international community” to return you to Sana’a, to restore your state, to build you a liberal paradise on our land!

You are rootless, You fled the land when war broke out, and took refuge in hotels and capitals,

And when the Gulf remittances stop, Your camps collapse into chaos, shouting, and collective breakdown!”

Yemeni Socialist Party

This is the former ruling party of South Yemen. Is this politician a member of the "YSP – Anti-Aggression" faction of the YSP? Because I heard that the Southern Transitional Council have allied themselfs with the Saudi backed goverment.

[–] LargePenis@hexbear.net 9 points 2 hours ago

Yeah, he's part of the YSP faction that allied itself with Ansarallah after the takeover of Sanaa and Taiz.

So Trump said something about "tariff will not be 145%, but more like 50%", but nothing actually happened, no? No change in policy and negotiations aren't happening, as far as I know?

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 16 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Trump said he'll only lower the tarrifs on China once "a deal is reached". Who knows what will happen with this circus, there's also been escalation around Taiwan now, with US Navy warships transiting the Taiwan Strait (in international waters), and the US placed unmanned remotely controlled anti ship missiles on islands in the Luzon Strait.

[–] Lovely_sombrero@hexbear.net 9 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Trump said he'll only lower the tarrifs on China once "a deal is reached".

Well, isn't that completely obvious? Is there a Wall Street trader who believed that if/when a deal was reached, it wouldn't include lower tariff rates?

It looks like another case of the market rallying on absolutely nothing, lol.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 28 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

another day another disappointing effort of joint dictatorship of treasury holders (this is for 1 month, for some scale)

if inventory and shipping won't implode in next 1-2 monthss, back to nothing ever happens gang (and bean watching)
