I have a baby. No need for an alarm, he has one built in πŸ‘

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm everything in this photo. I can wake up if I need to at 600, but I get paranoid that I won't so I set my alarm for 530. Then I get paranoid that I'll sleep through that alarm so I set one for 545, and finally another for 600. I don't trust snooze because I've accidentally turned off the alarm too many times while trying to hit snooze.

But most of the time I will wake up 5 minutes before each of the three alarms.

Android needs to not have the snooze and stop button be so damn close to each other.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yeah, I would prefer if snooze were tap the button and turn off was hold for 3 seconds or something.

I get up at the same time every weekday and it’s just programmed into my body to get up then or an hour later on weekends. It took 40 years to develop this superpower.

[–] MellowSnow@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

"Is it possible to learn this power?"

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

40 years as OP says ;) also you need to go to sleep at the same time

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 3 days ago

Yes, that part is key.

[–] TabbsTheBat@pawb.social 8 points 4 days ago

I sure love going to bed at a reasonable time, so I don't need external devices to wake up :3

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I usually wake up around 5-10 mins prior to my alarm if I slept the right amount (around 6 hours). In the rare occassion I get woken up by my alarm I feel the rest of the day like shit (very tired, annoyed at evrything, very sensitive to light, need 10 coffees to survive).

[–] socsa@piefed.social 2 points 4 days ago

Same. If I am in a good sleep routine, I consistently wake up about 10 minutes before the alarm goes off, especially in the spring and summer. In winter I am somewhat more likely to immediately fall back asleep because I don't hear the birds chirping.

[–] applemao@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

6 hours ?? Don't we all need more than 11? Guess I'm abnormal, ha

[–] iowagneiss@midwest.social 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Alarm is set for 4:45am, which lets me get my teeth brushed and pre-workout downed before the gym two blocks from my house opens at 5. I'm up at 3:45-4:15am every morning. I go to bed at 8pm. Once every 1-2 months, I'll hear my alarm.

[–] applemao@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

You must not work 8-5... I need my long nights to get revenge on how much of my day was spent working

[–] LiveLM@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Fuck! It's me right there represented in this comment! Fuck!

[–] iowagneiss@midwest.social 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm an 8-5'er alright. I live for the mornings. I like to think I'm blasting through my best energy for the day before I even get to work.

It really sucks when it doesn't work though. I used to wake up 5 minutes before my alarm like clockwork, and then ONE day I didn't set it. Well, guess what phone call I get that lovely morning.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Was it about your car warranty?

Even worse! It was about a car with a warranty that wasn't being worked on!

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

And weirod your body, too!

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

No, just arthritis.

[–] sfxrlz@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago

I used to always wake up like 1-5 minutes before my alarm. Since moving that has changed though and my internal clock is lacking nowadays.

[–] felykiosa@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

And there is me that need electrical shock to wake up , and sometime I bypass the pain

[–] Schal330@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

My life changed after getting a Lumie light about 8 years ago I think? I haven't woken up to a noise alarm since.

If I focus on it the night before for like 5 min and visualise my morning, I can reliably get up with about 5 minutes of prep before my alarm goes off.

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

if you have a consistent sleep schedule and good sleep hygiene you will not need an alarm either, unless you've got a medical condition that interferes with hormone production or something

[–] Demdaru@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

B u l l s h i t.

My chronotype is effin shifted, so I naturally wake around 9-10 am. Never have I ever had such tolerant period in my life to allow this, I always had to get up at 6 am, and for the past two years, 4:30 am daily.

The only thing I got from keeping it consistient is lack of rest, because let me tell ya, sure as hell hard to go to sleep at 8 pm if I get my biggest energy spike at 7 pm -.-'
