No plan is a plan.

The CPC under Poilievre is choosing to deny climate change. The subsequent disasters and disruptions will be addressed on an ad hoc basis while legacy industries continues to make money.

It's a shitty plan, but it's a choice they are making.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

Denial is their plan. "We didn't have climate change in the 50s and remember how great that was?"

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 42 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Canada can either be a beacon for science, education, responsible government and freedom, or it can descend into fascist oppression like the USA. Vote, and keep this man away from power.

I'm pretty sure we're going to have to accept a little bit of descent no matter who we elect. Carney has been signalling that progressive causes are going under the bus as needed.

[–] Jamablaya@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

None of them have a climate plan, other than wealth redistribution masquerading via fallacious "studies"

[–] Thepotholeman@lemmy.ca 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Uhhhhh no. The liberals have clearly stated that with the removal of the CONSUMER carbon tax, there will be a replacement. And that is rebates and grants to encourage people to buy greener and more energy efficient products. Believe me, I would rather the consumer carbon tax stay and collect my rebate checks as I reduce my carbon output and gain more and more of that money back. But were dealing with a hostile conservative government that has skewed Canadians perspective on the program which is atrocious.

Mark Carney ain't perfect but he's smart as fuck and he clearly believes that people worshipping the market is bad and that we should me making markets work for people and not people working for markets. The liberals made it mandatory that all new non commercial vehicles sold in this country to be electric (or hybrid I'm not sure) by 2035.

[–] Jamablaya@lemmy.world -1 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Uhhh no (agrees with me but doesn't realize it)

[–] Thepotholeman@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 hours ago

The liberals literally do have something to incentivize green energy and buying green products in their platform. The conservatives have nothing at all because the conservatives at their last leadership meeting voted no to acknowledge that climate change is real 🤡

Oh and the liberals are running on keeping the emissions cap in place??? So when you say no party has a climate plan are you talking about the cons, greens and NDP?

[–] Mossheart@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

Should our broken-ass electoral system elect this idiot, we will discover that their 'plan' for the country was really just three slogans in a trenchcoat this whole time.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I highly doubt that's true. He seems committed to increasing global temperatures

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

He sure blows a lot of hot air.

Poilievre has no ~~climate~~ plan

FTFY

I mean, he absolutely has a plan. It's just that the plan is to reduce corporate taxes, remove any safety nets and de-regulate as much as possible.

All things that are bad for the average citizen, but also still a plan.

He’s all LASIK, no vision.

[–] k_rol@lemmy.ca 2 points 17 hours ago

Well my vision has been 20/20 since LASIK, I don't think I get your point.

Out of all the moldy wet socks the Conservative Party had run in the last decade, this guy is the worst. I can’t stand him and his shitty attitude

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Such a punchable face too.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dont be bashful. Its the same as every Rube down south. Let the corporations do whatever the fuck they want, especially at the expense of the citizenry. Axe your far-right, Canada. Do it by dumping boatloads into education. Dont be like us, dont give the corporations an inch or you'll wind up right where we are.

[–] CowsLookLikeMaps@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Education is a provincial responsibility which is in trouble under the Ontario and Alberta conservative premiers. Doug Ford was a highschool hash dealer, didn't go to university, inherited his dad's company, then became a conservative politician. So it's unsurprising that he sees no value in education.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Thats one way to get to spluttering similar to ours. Education should be unified across the nation.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And yet, I'm seeing waaaaaayyyy too many Conservative election signs in front of people's homes.

Not totally surprised, since they also think that Doug Ford is doing an amazing job, so why not have a planless federal party in charge, too? 🫠

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Hey now. Dougie ranted and gesticulated in front of a camera. Does that not count for anything?!?

[–] HamsterRage@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

This just in: Water is wet!!!!

[–] Bublboi@lemmy.ca 1 points 17 hours ago

But it could have been wetter if not for the lost liberal decade. New slogan: Wet the Water. wetter is better.

[–] beejboytyson@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Ikr? Shills shilling?

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

Woof, I thought that was Canadian Elon musk.

Which is just Elon musk.

[–] veeesix@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Given his affinity for slogans I wouldn’t be surprised if “Climate, shlimate” was already at the print shop.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Common sense plan to axe the climate!

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

He doesn't believe in it.

[–] Alloi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago
