White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt is insist-lying that “no classified material was sent to the thread.” You know, except for the classified material that the National Security Council confirmed was sent to the thread, of course.

They were fucking allies, that's not bailing them out. These dunces wouldn't pass a U.S. foreign policy class if they paid the fucking professors to pass them.

NM it helps the US economy and interests anyway. Are they even aware we have a US military base right at the entrance of the Red Sea for this reason? Guess they really are Russian operatives if they're talking like that.

This at the same time they're trying to remove russian sanctions. I guess they're counting russia as Europe.

I haven't seen something go this viral in this administration since the Nazi salute. Some have gotten close, but too many are just slipping through into obscurity. This one has been literally on the front page of every social media platform all day.

It's always a bit reassuring to see that even in private the assholes are actually just assholes and it isn't an act they put on for the political stage. None of these fuckers are redeemable.

[–] girthero@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago

I always thought the stupidity was an act for their base... No they are just flat out that stupid.

Only this administration. Only republicans.

You really think that?

I mean, people are people. We do some stupid and shitty things.

I fully share your loathing of European free-loading

Europe didn't choose to be a vassal to the US, it happened because the continent was devastated by WW2. Europe needed help from the world's sole superpower, especially for defense against the common enemy of the Soviet Union.

But that era is over. Europe is no longer rebuilding from WW2 and the Soviet Union is gone. I think Europe is beginning to realize that being under the thumb of the US is not a place they want to be. I fully expect Europe to work to liberate itself from US dependence.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago

Not only did Europe "need" help, but the US came out better off after WWI and WWII, while Europe was obviously worse. This is why the US is a superpower today.

[–] Eezyville@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

At the time there were 2 superpowers, the US and Soviet Union.

Is this really the story Americans tell each other? I thought they loved foreign adventures. That would explain the 800 military bases they have dotted around the world. Do us all a favour, pack them up and take them back to your shithole country.
