I keep confusing that one with "snogging," the British slang for making out.

One of my favorite things is when my son tells me something he heard that was clearly a ridiculous lie and that annoyed him, and I reply with "stop the cap" in agreement with him.

The conflicting expressions on his face of both validation that I'm agreeing with him and cringe that in using that phrase are wonderful.

Fetch totally should have happened.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What's that even supposed to mean

"stop lying" would be more accurate

"Fuckin kids. I don't know what they're saying either" - Jesus probably

That's Jason Bourne!

Don't forget to add superfluous pluralizations.

"Wow, you've got the rizzes today" will make them cringe like you've never seen it before.

I am old enough that I have zero idea if you're serious or fucking with me.

Mogging is the act of looking better than someone.

Sounds like some kind of hybrid Final Fantasy / Furry fetish.

I feel like a major step in growing up is realizing your parents were making fun of you when they did that.

ok the hawk tua girl was funny

But how the fuck does it make sense in slang

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago

It doesn't, and neither does skibidi or sigma. It's just adopting random words for brainrot humor

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What's great about "mogging" is it is actually very old slang. "Mean mogging" which iirc is basically aggressive posturing with facial expressions. And it now means something else that I'm not sure about because I'm not hip with the kids.

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

I've only ever heard it as "mean mugging" - coming from ye olden days slang "mug" as face.

[–] owl@infosec.pub 3 points 1 week ago

So when you signamaxing by means of gigachad face, you're straight up mogging and mogging? No cap that's straight poggers, fr.
