I don't have a link button like that, but I am able to click on the thumbnail of a link and it opens just fine

I actually just read that post and the article and had no trouble opening it through Eternity
That's strange, because I get this error every time.
why does it say "rope" instead of europe in your title?
That seems to be the problem. When I click on a link that was posted in dach@feddit.org I get r/ch@feddit.org.
So, the first two letters are missing and this seems to be the problem.
Which version of the app are you on?
Must be 0.2.1, the latest from F-Droid. But also on codeberg it seems to be the lastest one.
Same for me
I run Eternity on two devices and have the issue on both of them.
Seems that there is a bug for some reason, that does not affect most of the other users. Any idea where I could report this?
The linked repo?

You can open it by tapping the thumbnail.
If that does not work you can go to Settings, Miscellaneous, Link Handler and then choose External App.
No change when I set it to "external app". :-(
when you create a post, you can select between text, link and image. i think that's what that button is about.
Exactly. So for example if you are browsing eternityapp@lemdro.id and see a post that is marked "video" you can tap that and continue to browse eternityapp@lemdro.id while only seeing posts marked with "video". That is how it works in Infinity which is what Eternity is based on.
