Officials are now reviewing the Tesla sales data to determine if any irregularities occurred during the program’s final days.

8,600 Teslas 4 Locations in 3 days (one reported 1,200 sales in one day) $43 mil in rebates ($4 mil in one day)

Let’s be generous and say the cheapest Tesla is $40k before any rebates. That’s $344 mil in sales, with an average of 2,150 Teslas per day.

I’m pretty sure it’s obvious there are irregularities.

Ohh wow governments actually can do basic forensic analysis when they don't like the oligarch...

hmm, why can't they do this shit with grocery stores engaged in price gouging?!

[–] lefaucet@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fair point, but don't make this a whattaboutism. Cheer them on for this

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 5 points 1 day ago

Just just highlighting that the regime can do something about these crimes but they give crocodile tears and do nothing.

Loblaw CEO should the rope for his crimes... but somehow government does not see it like that. hmmm

Governments are like the people. They tend to react only when it’s them that gets hurt. Until then, it’s thoughts, prayers, and “stop buying coffee”.

Is this loser buying his own cars to try to fraud the government now? "We sold 68 tesla each hours in this location were there's literately people protesting in front of the dealership." Of course you did lol. What a pathetic clown.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Well, Usk is a Canadian citizen, so is allowed to buy cars in Canada. Even his own.

[–] Sc00ter@lemm.ee 99 points 2 days ago

Buying a shit ton of your own cars to then claim the government rebate for EVs, but still having those cars available for sale is fraud.

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 88 points 2 days ago

This is the kind of shit that happens when you think everybody is stupid except you.

This is FALSE! Elon Musk would NOT Abuse the Government to line his OWN pockets! That's what SINGLE MOTHERS WORKING THREE JOBS would do!

There is no way Tesla offloaded 8600 swasticars in three fucking days. I bet this is hung on some no name middle manager

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And at one dealership. Very sus

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

One dealer sold 1200. No idea how many more sold the rest. Or how many Tesla dealers there are in Canada.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

4 dealerships total were involved, so 1200 was probably the lesser of the 4.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

8600 from 4 dealerships in 3 days, or 12 dealership-days. So, about 700 per dealership per day on average. The 1200 in one day is likely the max, which is typical for these kind of statements.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago

Yall got reading issues. It says one of the dealerships sold 1200 in a single day.

[–] rottingleaf@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I suppose they can offload a lot of them into the ocean or something like that. But still too fast.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 53 points 2 days ago

All Tesla sales are suspicious unless it's for sale by owner trying to purge Nazi paraphernalia.

[–] lexiw@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

None of you is asking the real questions: has he done something similar somewhere else?

Don’t you find it suspicious that sales have fallen massively everywhere but risen in the UK? How do we start an investigation there?

[–] ThomasCrappersGhost@feddit.uk 5 points 2 days ago

I saw a chart that said they were up by a factor of like 3. Would be interesting to see if this were true.

[–] Oaksey@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Later in the story it mentions registrations. I wonder if they just registered a heap of them shortly after the government said they were likely going to pause the rebates but before they did. I wonder if all that is now effectively stock they can sell but with the rebate?
Should be investigated either way.
