Jesus, they're going through and "purifying" all the different government archives. This is gonna do irreparable harm to our knowledge of history. Utterly vile

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

They're also removing pictures of a Medal of Honor recipient from World War 2. His crime? Being Hispanic. Because being Hispanic and being awarded the MoH posthumously is obviously DEI. From that infamous time of DEI awards, 1946.

The Enola Gay is still mildly radioactive, so I can’t help but think “Hot gays in your area ready to bang”

[–] lalala@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

This is just a book burning.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 15 points 1 day ago

Enola Sad and Straight

[–] borokov@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The fuck ???

It's the name of pilot's mother: Enola Gay Tibbets !!! It has nothing to do with LGBTQRSTwhatever !!!

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

Yes that's why it's the article.

[–] EmoDuck@sh.itjust.works 69 points 2 days ago (5 children)

If they do this then they should at least be consistent and remove every mention of the words Straight, Bi, Pan and Trans as well

Taking your Biplane for a transatlantic flight, straight to the Panama canal? That's a paddlin

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

That phrase is an incantation to cause aneurysms in racist grandpas.

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bicycles are banned. Cars are no longer allowed to have transmissions either.

Tran-sport in general is banned. So is all Bi-ology.

[–] ours@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

Via the Gulf of Mexico.

[–] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago

Transatlantic towards Panama?

We Europeans didn't ban those words.

Transcontinental would work though

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I wonder how the fascies will say: "I need a new frying pan"

[–] fallingcats@discuss.tchncs.de 34 points 1 day ago

So the snowflakes have reached the banning words stage now, have they?

[–] traches@sh.itjust.works 216 points 2 days ago (2 children)

jesus christ they’re dumb

[–] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 119 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They know exactly what they're doing, it's a "purification," not entirely dissimilar to the same that happened in the 1930s in Germany.

[–] Alterforlett@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago

I think most people realise. It's still really fucking dumb

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh, no, they're dumb as a bag of bricks. Dumbest Nazis of all time. AI just makes them dumber.

Nononono! They're super-smart! Even when everything they do looks exactly what an incredibly stupid person would do that's just because they're playing 1000D chess! They've thought of everything so we should all just give up and accept their rule.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Does everyone big country have to go through that phase?

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

When nobody stands up to stop the fascists, yes.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

not at all. trying to eliminate gay people from history, and also a nice convenient moment to sweep some war crimes under the rug

[–] traches@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People like this don’t think it was wrong

Also apparently any photo of any Black or woman service member.

Because they didn't consider the possibility that women and Black service members did noteworthy things based on their actual merit.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Including a Hispanic Marine who received a Medal of Honor for jumping on a grenade to save his comrades. Medal given in 1946, the infamous period of DEI...

[–] MajorHavoc@programming.dev 86 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"Images of historically significant military achievements or personnel, such as the Tuskegee Airmen and the first female Marine Corps infantry graduates, have been flagged for removal."

Wow. That's pretty blatant.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago

The Tuskegee airmen thing pisses me off so much. Like brick-throwing shit-burning degree of angry.

[–] VinesNFluff@pawb.social 85 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Normal country

Normal things are done in it.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’m fine. We’re fine. We’re all fine here. How are you?

[–] MajorHavoc@programming.dev 7 points 2 days ago

"It was a lousy conversation anyway. Chewie, we're gonna have company!"

find /mnt/gubarmentfiles/ -name "*gay*" -exec rm {} \;

-- some dogenerate, propably.

[–] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 2 days ago

I don't believe that they're even that capable. Probably really on LLMs to write every script for them and don't know whether or not it actually works.

[–] philthi@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just did whatever the opposite of eating the onion is. I assumed this was the onion.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Shat the onion"? Naah that doesn't too right either.

I was really hoping this was a case of intentional malicious compliance to draw attention to the stupidity of this new policy. No such luck.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why can’t they just rename it Enola Straight?

Though Enola sounds pretty ethnic.

[–] limelight79@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

Enola sounds pretty close to Ebola... Two reasons to censor this picture!

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I wonder if this is an example of malicious compliance.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Likely it's being done this way to overwhelm anf tire out the activists of all kinds ASAP, then the techbros can build their network states.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

So censorship 🤣

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 11 points 2 days ago

This is just the right kind of absurd for our current government circus. I believe the headline completely without even reading the article.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago
