You might not have to pay $.02 in taxes every year to accommodate transgender prisoners, but at least egg prices are down...right?

...right?

Oh my God. Eggs are expensive because people aren't buying them!

[–] 0x01@lemmy.ml 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ye olde inverted supply and demand, just like my econ professor taught me

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 15 points 2 weeks ago

Idk what could possibly be causing a supply problem, all the chickens in the country are as healthy as can be.

The DOGE said so.

Fake. CEO’s aight choosing shit. They’re going to Paris and Barcelona

[–] wieson@feddit.org 25 points 2 weeks ago

They're choosing which football club they'll buy, Paris or Barcelona

[–] phlegmy@sh.itjust.works 53 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

Holy shit, insulin is ~$98 on average over there!?
That is literally the most expensive place to buy insulin on this planet.
Most countries have insulin available for ~1/5th that price or less, with many selling it for less than 1/10th of the US price.

I knew it was bad over there but that’s fucking atrocious.
At least you’re more free over there than anywhere else though, right?
Right?

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's absurdly actually come down significantly in the US since 2021.

That $98 is a major improvement.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Probably not staying at that price for much longer.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah. It's literally against the law for Medicaid or Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices. They have the largest insurance pools, and therefore an incredible amount of leverage, but nope. Gotta pay those insurance companies!

yeahhhhh.... hasanabi was right, targeting trans sports was the easiest and dirtiest way to bring transphobia to the normies. people that don't even give a shit about politics and don't think about trans people one way or another can say "well at least sports are fair now"

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Trans sports is where the boundaries between what people do with their own body is crossed into interaction with others. This is why it has become the favorite point to attack for conservatives.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

They're cool with school shootings, though.

[–] moon@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago

That's the perfect way to explain this

Badminton is criminally underrated

[–] Prime_Minister_Keyes@lemm.ee 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It might have better PR if they renamed it to "Goodminton."

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They really bury the lede with the whole "shuttlecock" thing. When I learned that shit, it gave it an immediate boost in my teenage brain lol

Why does badminton even need to be separated it’s not a strength contest

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago

Because some people view Men's sports as professional, and a career opportunity. Women's sports on the other hand are seen by those people as recreational, and something fun to do outside of the house.

Who would put a professional player against a recreational player? That's just not fair, the recreational player would be embarrassed at how bad they are and it wouldn't be fun to watch.

Obviously nothing I said is true but it's an opinion held by many.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 weeks ago

So men don't have to be embarrassed from being beaten by a woman.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Idk man when I see professional badminton they are smacking the fuck out of the cock

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 weeks ago

I see what you did there, setting up the punchline for your fellow lemmings, now that's what I call service.

This meme is way less impressive for someone living in Europe. Ryanair will take to to either for like 19 euros.

[–] meliaesc@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Next you're going to say insulin is only €10

[–] Tja@programming.dev 21 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

No, that's a university semester, insulin is 5€.

Yeah CEO’s and shareholders are driving it to the extreme, but in the end everybody wants their interest on savings/investments, their yearly wage increases etc. The whole economic system is at fault and America is driving it to the extreme.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

The whole economic system is at fault and America is driving it to the extreme.

No, americans are just speed-running it.
