As a ballfarter I feel seen

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 34 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Ok ok but I'm been thinking for awhile and this is the first time I've had an excuse to say it * flamesuit on *:

If you start at Violent Femmes and draw a straight line to Coldplay, you have to pass through Radiohead.

[–] silasmariner@programming.dev 13 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Been saying that for years. Same for Muse, although they took after different parts of Radiohead's ouvre. Never really felt anyone huge corresponded to the Kid A/Amnesiac stuff though. Nobody jumps out there.

That reminds me of a funny interview moment where some music journalist in the 2000’s asked Thom York, “So how to you respond to newer bands like Muse who are capitalizing on your sound?” And Thom goes, “Good luck with Kid A.”

Thom Yorke's media shenanigans in the 90s/early 00s are on par with Dylan in the 60s. Just clowning on them constantly.

Coldplay - radiohead lite.

Muse - radiohead heavy.

I know someone that would feel insulted by this

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Oh? Is that chris marten by chance or maybe matt bellamy?

Do you know why they would feel insulted?

Snow patrol - Coldplay light but also better strangely

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I think i only know chasing cars

Edit: also know Run

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

Absolutely. Coldplay has always been a "poor man's" Radiohead.

Kid A makes all the ballfarts worth it.

[–] apocalypticat@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

For OK Computer, I'd keep them in forever and ever. Worth it!

Everything in its right place.

Reminds me of the song written by AI "I Glued My Balls to My Butthole Again".

there's a better timeline where this is the only kind of thing AI was ever used for

[–] GlendatheGayWitch@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

that and accurately help people with their taxes and other menial, tedious tasks

Comments turned off lol

But Radiohead is like 7 years older? So confused, time travel?

Coldplay's music is so powerful, it inspired other bands before they even formed

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Teenage edgelord who thinks Korn is peak metal.

[–] Pulptastic@midwest.social 2 points 3 days ago

But Coldplay is already that!

My wife's favorite band is Radiohead

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 7 points 3 days ago

TI(also)L: my wife has balls and they are in her butthole.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 days ago
