Note: it's not a free model, costs about $9.35

I thought this was pretty cool design though, definitely something I've wanted to have before.

If it’s a good model that someone put time into designing I’m ok paying for it. My time isn’t free either. But I do submit some of my designs for free just because I want people to get use out of something I did.

Edit: Plus I would love this setup for work…. a tiny little cyber deck. Could be useful in a data center for setup and whatnot. A tiny crash cart.

This logitech keyboard looks cool but the quality is horrible.

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah theres so many low profile mechs that would be awesome in this

A laptop: "Look what they must do to emulate a fraction of our power"

Don't bing that evil on us.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (3 children)

That's just a laptop with extra steps.

Yes but this way you can have both without needing a second device

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Linux native laptop

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 12 points 2 days ago

It's way better than a laptop. I can't hold a laptop and play games with the ease I can pop this out of it's case and use.

This is cool as fuck and very cyberpunk.

Bruh why do you think the Steam Deck is called that in the first place?

[–] Grimpen@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yes, but Valve just evoked a cyberdeck, OP took it the rest of the way.

I've got a 60% mechanical keyboard I use with my SD a lot, some street if combined carry case would be cool.

[–] averyminya@beehaw.org 2 points 1 day ago

The Steam Deck almost annihilated the cyberdeck subreddit lol

Yeah fair enough

I didn’t think it could get any bigger. I was wrong.

[–] anguo@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The render looks nice, the print, less so.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

True of most 3d prints unfortunately, although ultimately it comes down to your printer.

[–] anguo@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

You can also design and orient it in a way that avoids overhangs and makes for a better print. I think this looks great, but doesn't really look like something designed to be printed on an FDM printer (on first sight).

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I dont like that they designed around the pebble, which doesn't have onboard rechargable batteries.

The mxmini would have been a better design choice and is about the same size. Dead ass if they had something like this built with the USB C hub as part of the design, I'd be buying it right now. The biggest criticism I have of the steam deck is the case. It seems like they could have designed it to be a stand fairly easily.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 days ago

That's what I'm saying. I hate taking it and a laptop when I know I'm gonna be somewhere for hours. If they made the case like a stand, with room in it for a small keyboard and mouse, I could basically just have the one device for everything I need.

$10 isn't bad. I wonder if there's foss examples. Are the keys rubber dome?

[–] SeekPie@lemm.ee 10 points 2 days ago

If they're not specified, they're most likely regular membrane.

[–] magikmw@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

I have it, it's membrane. It's pretty good for the price.

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Oh, I know that keyboard! It still reminds me of the ebox remote keyboards. I forgot mini/ accessory keyboards like that exist.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's just an off the shelf keyboard put into the 3D printed case, right? Or is the keyboard also DIY made?

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 8 points 2 days ago

The keyboard is a Logitech Pebble Keys 2 K380s.

@Fubarberry @Kolanaki Descriptions says to use an off the shelf "Pebble Keys 2 K380s keyboard or Pebble 2 Combo (with mouse)"

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If anyone wants to print this and sell me one, I would be very, very game for that.

[–] 6gybf@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

Just want to charge with default case closed

[–] tth@mastodon.tetaneutral.net 4 points 2 days ago

@Fubarberry : A modern #Osborne computer !

Ah yes, the opposite of ergonomic layout. Perfect for some carpal tunnel infused trigger finger.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

That’s very cool
