From Remedy's Capital Markets Day stream discussing their business as a whole, when they were talking about Alan Wake 2 here they say this:

"The game is an Epic Games Store exclusive, and in hindsight we still believe this was the right choice. It would had been quite questionable whether the game would turn out the masterpiece it turned out without the support of Epic, and with any other Partner, Remedy wouldn't had the same level of freedom for future Alan Wake Games, and had we kept the original budget, Remedy would be earning royalties already on the game"

Remedy seem very happy with the decision to have Epic publish Alan Wake 2 which is great, they give a lot of praise for how they were handled and that without them they probably would not continue to own the Alan Wake IP and have made the same game that was released to the public.

Alan Wake 2's current sales are at 1.8 million and they expect the game to continue to sell well which is even better as they'll begin getting royalties from the sales, and even funnier enough with them saying if they had stuck with their original budget they would have been gaining royalties already
