If you stay in and Trump is elected and everything you're warning about comes to pass, how will you feel in January?" Stephanopoulos asked Biden.

"I'll feel, as long as I gave it my all, and I did as good a job as I know I can do, that's what this is about," the president responded.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-at-peace-if-he-loses-to-trump-as-long-as-i-gave-it-my-all/ar-BB1puJEx

People give Republicans shit for not knowing about things trump said he would do...

Yet moderates continue to not know how Biden said he would things...

He was never built to fight fascism, we wasted four years of what could be (but probably isn't) our last chance.

And people still want to claim we need to move further right in 2028?

I'm struggling so much to understand what kind of logic those people are using. Even when it "works" it doesn't actually work, it's a brief reprieve at best.

[–] Enkers@sh.itjust.works 43 points 1 week ago

The "logic" is just billionaire talking points, because that's who holds the media's purse strings. They'll do anything to keep actual progressives out of power.

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

There IS no logic. You can't expect logic from things that have been deprogrammed and are currently being reprogrammed, at least not good logic. Bad actors that have control over global information in realtime have taken over. They control the minds now.

I mean look around you. For years' we've been shoulder to shoulder with apologists who claim to be on the supposed "left" but keep making excuses to defending the indefensible.

You can't have bipartisan ship with fascism: thats just more fascism.

You can't expect people to support the lessor two evils: its just more evil.

Policies that only ever do half of the job of fixing the problem never results in the problems being solved.

What we're experiencing is the true cost of the half-a-loaf politics of the liberal, NPR, Pod-Save-America, Democrat. Obama-era nothing burger chickens come home to roost.

Elections have consequences. Americans knew what they voted for. They fucked around and they are going to find out.

[–] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well, the rest of the world will find out also

[–] lychee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Europeans seem like they constantly need reminding of this. You people are also fucked for a myriad of reasons

[–] whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

yeah, I don't understand why people think that it will not change anything here, first with the war next door, and we're living on the same earth so the climate will be impacted everywhere not just locally in the US

[edit] also: what do you mean, YOU people?!

[–] HappycamperNZ@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As much as I hate this its correct.

With lying, external influence, racism, terrorism and general crime he was just democratically elected. Supporting democracy means that it has to be followed.

It's wrong, its a bad move, but its democracy.

[–] pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, the US constitution literally has a protection for this exact scenario: the electoral college. The founding fathers knew that the general population was stupid and could fall victim to a tyrant, so the EC was supposed to vote against the popular vote if that happened. They couldn't have forseen the internet, though.

Our government has a responsibility to protect the country and the constitution from those who seek to destroy it, and Trump and gang seek to destroy it. They all should face a military tribunal for sedition and treason, and be hung for it.

[–] beebarfbadger@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Technically, the US also has protections against wannabe dictators claiming they are above the law: a supreme court which, were it not undermined by that dictator's toadies, should shut that shit down in a second. Still, there's a difference between blindly following everything that court makes up out of thin air and supporting the actual rule of law. Same with democracy.

costing us the election and then rolling out the red, black and white carpet

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You guys should have voted against that if that's not what you wanted.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

Some of us did, a lot actually. Unfortunately, the stupid outweigh the rest.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 30 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Look at these wrinkled old scrotums. Each directly responsible for the downfall of America. Each palsied, spotted claw dipped in the misery of our better citizens.

If leadership is synonymous with accountability, then let the full weight of America's mighty stumbles rest on their backs. Let them stagger and carry it for the rest of history.

[–] Kloptz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

I like how you write

They won't be around for much of history.

Another reason to stop nominating senile geriatrics, as if even one were ever needed.

[–] ynthrepic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Sound like something out of a TV drama. Imagine saying this to their faces haha. Imagine someone said that of you? It's just an awesome thought. ;) 😉

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 1 points 1 week ago

Better, or bitter? ¿Porque no los dos?

[–] MurderCapitalism@feddit.org 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Biden is the new von Hindenburg now? Doesn't Biden have still unlimited political power thanks to Supreme Court?

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Remember the letter trump left when biden won?

The one that has never been made public.

Biden's only comment in it was that it was 'generous'

I've wondered if that letter told biden he would be spared if he cooperated

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 2 points 1 week ago

Maybe he thought resistance would mean death or torture for him and his loved ones. He's already seen one son die, I doubt he'd want to see another one laid to rest.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 28 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

This is everything wrong with the Democratic Party in a nutshell.

The correct move: Use the "Anything the President does is an official act" powers to stop a madman who under the 14th Amendment isn't even eligible to be President.

What Democrats do: Kiss his ass as hard as they can even though it's blatantly obvious via the January 6th riots that this would not be happening were the roles reverse.

The Dems are as spineless as the Reps are heartless.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

The time to do that would have been before the election, not afterwards

[–] superkret@feddit.org 20 points 1 week ago

Big Paul von Hindenburg energy.

The former German President who instated Hitler as chancellor, and officially signed his "Reichstag Fire Decree" and "Enabling Act" into law, which abolished democracy.
All in the name of an orderly transition during difficult times.
Hindenburg died in August 1934, after which Hitler became President, as well.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

I would have left a thumbtack on every chair, and a bucket of whitewash balanced over every door.

[–] cerement@slrpnk.net 14 points 1 week ago

a quisling sucking up to a Vichy government

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not sure what else would be expected here. The public spoke what it wants. So he’s like ok folks, this is what you asked for so have at it.

The public are dumb.

Much as we hate to admit it, Trump appears to have democratic legitimacy (for some definition of democracy). Unless you expect Biden to suddenly admit "The whole election apparatus is bullshit and undemocratic", he has to accept the results and act according to his Democrat principles:

Bend over and spread wide.

shakes his hand and smiles real big and fully endorses him thank you mister mcdonalds for your honorable service to this country
