A few years ago I setted up a open tarcker/annouce server. Trackers (open trackers) are the backbone on the torrent traffic, when your client send the infohash of a torrent the tracker replies with the seeds and peers, basically a phonebook with a map. Fast forward a moths and the first DMCA email started to arrive. No bid deal, jsut block the hash and that's it, or so I thought. Now this company MarkScan (you can google it up, they have a niiiice reputation) never actually removed me from their email list, to this day no torrent ttracker exists anymore but the server and that specific subdomain still exists and the email flood in each day.
My current provider (Contabo) just banned my server because I failed to respond to one of the email sent by markscan, thing is, I get around 10/20 a month, sometimes more than one per day. They don't check if the content does exist, was removed or even if the server responds to the mentioned 6969 port. Nada, they just spam email.
So you might ask, why do I have the power to take down? Simple. I can just pont cursed.domain.example to whatever IP I want and they would start to recive automated abuse emails to the hosting provider.
an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Seriusly, I don't know what to do. I had an auto replier on my mail bu this time it failed, here I am with a 42+ euro reactivation fee but a powerful gun in my hand.
This should not be possible.
