Well to be fair, Putin does seem to be an expert in problems at the moment

[–] Deestan@lemmy.world 28 points 10 months ago

He's been crafting and stockpiling them like a confused prepper.

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 60 points 10 months ago (3 children)

His "plans" are probably to stir up shit, mess with elections, sabotage, bribe people in positions of power, stage civil unrest... all the things he was going to do anyway.

The only difference is he's whining about it in the open instead of doing it behind everyone's back.

Sounds like an ex US president I didn’t vote for.

[–] Sweetpeaches69@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

There's a reason orange dipshit looked up to the Kremlin.

[–] PeckerBrown@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

The view from his kneepads.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 14 points 10 months ago

He's also been shipping asylum seekers to the border to overwhelm social services.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Well, our latest election went shit already. No need to help, Putin, our own government is already messing up this country!

Finland: And now we have a pact with NATO. You wanna cause 'problems'? We will cause 'solutions'. Ours are bigger and, as seen in Ukraine, considerably more effective.

[–] jimbolauski@lemm.ee 31 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Putin is doing this in hopes of intimidating other countries. He and everyone around him knows Russia doesn't have the resources to start another conflict.

All disputes, including territorial ones, were resolved long ago, in the middle of the 20th century.

Kinda like how the border disputes with Ukraine were solved in the late 20th century. Great example of “don’t start nothing, won’t be nothing”

[–] SCB@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Best thing Putin has done, in his entire life, is help grow NATO. Pity it had to come from actual war and not just saber-rattling.

[–] pancakes@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 months ago

Now let's just hope he can get on with the second best thing he'll do in his life, which is die.

[–] Alchemy@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago

We got 99 problems, but rusko swine ain't one of em.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

Putin can choke on a fat dick.

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 13 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Isn't Finland in NATO now? Putin isn't dumb enough to actually start shit with NATO. It's exactly why he started shit with Ukraine that isn't in NATO yet.

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They are, and they also have a defense pact with the US. Direct confrontation would be stupid as that could trigger NATO Article 5, so Putin will likely try to stir shit on a non-military level (social, political, imports, etc).

[–] rammer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Putin will likely try to stir shit on a non-military level (social, political, imports, etc

Because that is all he can do at the moment.

[–] wizzor@sopuli.xyz 2 points 10 months ago

Putin is probably miffed as the signing of a defence cooperation agreement between Finland and the US looms, which would bring US weapons to Finnish soil on a permanent basis. This is a step towards practical implementation of NATO defense collaboration.

He could probably hit Putin from there, too.

Can someone post that story about one Finnish soldier against a thousand Russian soldiers?

[–] Taalen@lemmy.world 55 points 10 months ago (1 children)

A large group of Russian soldiers in the border area in 1939 are moving down a road, when they hear a voice call from behind a small hill: "One Finnish soldier is better than ten Russians". The Russian commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the hill where a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, followed by silence.

The voice once again calls out: "One Finn is better than one hundred Russians." Furious, the Russian commander sends his next best 100 troops over the hill and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence. The calm Finnish voice calls out again: "One Finn is better than one thousand Russians!"

The enraged Russian commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the hill. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought... Then silence.

Eventually one badly wounded Russian fighter crawls back over the hill and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more men... it's a trap. There are two of them!"

[–] lud@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Russia did actually win that war in the end though...

So maybe not the greatest comparison.

[–] agitatedpotato@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Oh you know history far to well to mean those words, those are words just for Russians to hear huh?

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Like another rusky undopey threat from the rusky undope.

[–] AdamEatsAss@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

The old news firehose winds up again. Putin likes to say a bunch of "crazy" things like this to get foreign press and governments confused on what his next move will actually be. The idea is to flood the world with so many hints of plans that no one knows what to believe.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 10 months ago

Oh no! Anyway.

[–] spez@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

Why would they want all of this? Nonsense."
