They're really digging in on this shit, huh? Here's hoping enough people pass on their games because of it that Sony regrets the decision.

I remember being "sorry" for doing so to Helldivers 2 ๐คฃ
Nah, they said sorry, they didn't do anything different. They still restricted the purchase regions of the game to those that can get PSN. I expect a return of the PSN requirement for Helldivers 2 eventually.
I knew Sony would double down on this shit. They always make these stupid business decisions.
Nahhh, not like they have a history of being shit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AyVh1_vWYQ
We are talking about the company that installed rootkit back in the age of CDs.
Wait a minute.
WHY TF IS HORIZON ZERO DAWN GETTING AN REMASTER!?!?!
WHAT IS THE POINT? What stupid idiot thought this was a good idea????
And that bloody price tag! โฌ50 for accessibility features and slightly better performance? Why... Why is this a successful way to make money? ... I... I'm sad now.
Because if they remaster it, they can also remaster the price.
Which is probably why they've pulled all the old versions.
Edit: Looks like the game is still on GOG without PSN requirment.
Sadly, based on reviews for the game on GOG, while the game is technically DRM-free (in that it doesn't Emily any of the traditional DRM like Denuvo), it still requests either full or limited data collection.
It requests it but doesn't require it. True, you need to select "limited" or "full" but you could just disable the network or firewall it. I run it in a container without networking on linux mint and it works perfectly.
Kinda wanted to pick the game up at some point. Weird, I seem to have suddenly lost all interest. Huh.
Get the original on GOG without DRM or forced PSN.
Game still requires either full or limited data collection in order to play. It apparently asks you for permission after the intro cutscene.
I'm running the gog version through wine with disabled networking for that container and it works perfectly. I forgot that the game has a telemetry option until I read this. Pick it up on gog, it goes for ~10โฌ every time they have a sale.
So glad I didn't buy any Sony PC port yet. I will pirate every single one of them.
Yo fucking ho my boys
Microsoft should find a way to capitalize on this. Sony is really fumbling here.
Behold, the Xbox Series X Ultra for $899*
*Charging cable sold separately
I don't see how they could capitalize on this specific bullshit other than to just keep on keeping on and not joining Sony in requiring a new login for a service you, as a PC player, might not even give a shit about.
Unless they can get away with porting Bloodborne to PC or something... ๐ค
Ok. I'll still play the game with no PSN. They'll just not get any money x it. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Keep re-releasing it so I can not buy it again and again.
This happens when there is a lack of competition. If MS didnโt shit the bed with xbox in this generation, Sony would be trying harder
They're competing with PC now and simultaneously trying to turn this into a vector to convert people to PS5. It won't work, but the fact that there are PC versions at all show how they can't just do what they want with impunity.
It'll be interesting to see what Sony will do considering they're not going to pull PC players to PS and PC ports open to door to piracy which is definitely going to increase with the PSN shit. I doubt the PSN data is so valuable they're just going to let people pirate their games. Either they're going to pull out the PC market to prevent piracy or they're going to get rid of the PSN for PC. The latter makes too much sense so it's probably going to be the former.
Now I don't feel so bad about buying it a few weeks ago and barely playing.
How does this differ from a forced Microsoft login in eg. Forza Horizon 4 or Halo?
I never played this game; is it really so good that fans were clamoring for a re-release? What am I missing if anything?
Also, I may be misremembering when this was launched but isn't it a bit early for a re-master on this one?
It's good, but not good enough that I would be willing to have DRM on it. And yeah, it's too new to have a remaster.
