I was wondering what else Spain was expected to do, then read "weapons trade valued at over 1 billion". Yeah that makes sense.

Spain is in the top ten of global arms industry exports. Airbus Military is headquartered in Madrid

Yeah, and Santa Barbara /General Dynamics, Bazan, etc… but the people had little say in setting those up

Good on Spain. I hope more follow suit.

wish we had that kind of moral integrity here.

Plenty of people will get angry about made up stories of children being abused.
Those same people do not seem to do much about feeding hungry children in their area, or supporting them when they are abused by parents or guardians.

This single example makes me question to what extent humans can be said to generally act based on a defence of their own moral integrity.

Clearly some people do, and more people try. Whether they "generally" do doesn't matter. What's important is that "enough" people do to prevent humanity from selecting one of our myriad possible self extinctions.

What’s important is that “enough” people do to prevent humanity from selecting one of our myriad possible self extinctions.

The issue is that it is easier to harm than it is to heal, so the ratio has to be quite large in the favour of those who do not wish to do damage. See how easy it is for a motivated few to destroy public discourse by making up harmful bullshit, and then having it amplified because it's 'interesting'. The common preference for convenience is easily bent towards harm, because harming others to feel better about yourself not being harmed in comparison to those others is very easy.

"General strike" is a major overstatement. I live close to the BCN center and I didn't even notice.
