If you have better source than the guardian let me know. I'm posting this because i'm surprised nobody has posted it yet

[–] OccamsTeapot@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Guardian is a good source!

[–] index@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

I'm sure there are better ones

What is the controversy about the guardian?

Edit: No evidence of misinformation, disinformation or propaganda. Gotcha

Western propaganda apparatus

Mouthpiece of the empire. Not controversial at all though.

When will the day come when there is peace and there are no bombers in the Middle East?

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 32 points 2 months ago

The first step would be for the US to stop giving them bombs.

[–] index@sh.itjust.works 22 points 2 months ago

not soon if we keep supporting governments arming themself to death and mass producing bombs

[–] Ion@lemmy.myserv.one 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

When Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, and friends stop lobbying our Congress to fund defense contracts, Israel, and other imperialist entities that have turned that region into a sandbox for the military industrial complex.

When we no longer need their oil.

When all humans have bombed each other and there is no one left

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

When will the day come when there is peace and there are no bombers in the Middle East?

When humans remove themselves from this planet from one or more of war / climate change / doing nothing but grinding games that give cryptocurrency and forgetting to eat.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Let's not pretend all humans are incapable of peace just because we have a system which makes the greedy and cruel rise to the top.

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone -4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Let's not pretend that the human world was not purposefully produced by humans who continually decide to leave the status quo as it is.

I'm autistic, you're not going to be able to lie to me with "but I want things to be better". Give me evidence.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Continuously decide to leave the status quo as it is

You're acting as if there's actual democracy everywhere and changing the status quo is just a matter of deciding we want better things. You're disregarding the practical state of democracy and literally all the activism. You're disregarding the entire history of humanity, basically. You're acting as if we could just have a conference call among humanity and just decide to get rid of everything bad, and if that doesn't happen, it means that everyone is a shit selfish person.

"The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends," Ser Jorah told her. "It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace." He gave a shrug. "They never are."

Our systems literally favour psychopaths in leading positions.

Give me evidence.

Of what? People doing things to change things? How about literally all activists? Most people are too busy with their own lives to actively give up everything, but if you're arguing that no-one is doing anything to "make things better", that's a position that's very easy to prove wrong.

I'm acting as if I have moral standards. I've stopped caring that others don't.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

You're living in an imaginary world and making completely unfounded assumptions about other people while insisting on your superiority.

Can you give evidence of what you've done to "make things better", or has your contribution been to whinge online how everyone except you is a bad person, while ignoring all the people actually working to improve things (something which I'm pretty sure you're not doing yourself)?

[–] volodya_ilich@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Give me evidence

Please tell me on how many international wars countries from Latin America have engaged during the past 3 decades. Maybe, you know, let's do what they're doing in that regard?

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wish generative AI made sense.

[–] volodya_ilich@lemm.ee 0 points 2 months ago

You could be less condescending, I think I've been quite clear in my comment but maybe you don't understand because of the language barrier (I'm not a native speaker). Can you make the effort to consider that there exist actual countries that for the past decades have engaged in no war against any other country?
