He's so transparent. The internal polling must be showing him getting murdered among women, prob worse than the national polling shows.

That or he's just stung by the implications of being unpopular with women.

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 114 points 3 weeks ago

Or voting, or going to school, or owning things or...

[–] Cephalotrocity@biglemmowski.win 77 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, they'll be worried about keeping their right to vote.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 31 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Which was gained through protest. Just felt I'd add that because I hear, even from some women, that they don't know what good protest does. I don't understand how people can be so ignorant. Standing on the shoulders of those that came before them yet completely pissing on their head!

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Honestly some of these folks need to rewatch Mary poppins just for exposure to .000001% of that movement.

[–] jaemo@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago

Raised by whom though? Who failed to teach these lessons to this generation?

[–] superkret@feddit.org 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Gained through protest in a completely different time, though.
Today, the establishment has much better tools at their disposal to delegitimize, vilify and ridicule even big protest movements through propaganda.

[–] BallsandBayonets@lemmings.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Which just makes protesting all the more important. A movement isn't going to move unless it gets proper recognition, and that doesn't happen via Internet messages and lawn-side signs.

Can you really call it a 'signature all-caps style' when it's nearly impossible to distinguish from any crazy person's online forum screed?

We can call it the concept of a style

[–] finley@lemm.ee 14 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Well, I’d argue that he’s not just some crazy online rando but a previous and possibly future president of the United States, which makes a teeny-weeny bit of a difference here.

I get where you're coming from, but he also happens to own the forum. and the fact that millions of actual “regular people” spend their days proliferating his garbage nonsense is yet another distinction between Trump and any other crazy person online.

In fact, it’s the proliferation of online propaganda that even makes you consider Trump to be comparable to a regular person in the first place when he is anything but.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

It's a "signature style" when it's made in Trump, and "sparkling schizophrenia" when it comes from anywhere else.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 58 points 3 weeks ago

I don't know what is worse, that he thinks women get abortions because they are sad or that he forgot he was president in 2020 when they were sick, poor, and depressed.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 55 points 3 weeks ago

The veil is so thin. That is a clear threat to women’s rights. This asshole needs to get squashed in November

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 53 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You know what, fuck it I'll say it, the bullet missed because it knew it was too good for him.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

2 inches away from a better world

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (3 children)

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Trump is WORSE dead than alive. And even much worse if assassinated instead of dying of natural causes. Be careful with what you wish for. Do you think his cult followers are bad now?? How do you think they'll be if they get their Jesus-like martyr?

The perfect example is Venezuela. Go ahead, read about Chávez and what happened after he died.

I want that guy IN PRISON and stewing in bitterness til the end of his time.

[–] punkaccountant@lemm.ee 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

My wish would be that after he loses this election - and I think would truly become unable to run again (because at that point I think almost everyone would be able to admit he’s too old) - that everyone simply forgets about him. His ongoing trials would get no more than a blip in coverage, whether he’s sentenced to jail or slapped with probation, it barely gets talked about. There can be no worse punishment from that man’s perspective than screaming into a void and no one hears him and no one cares.

This is a total pipe dream, but I am willing to turn off any news program, ignore any news link and not buy any newspaper that has an article about him if it contributes to ignoring him until he turns into an old useless husk and departs from this world. I wish it could be done now but people still need to be consistently reminded how dangerous he is until their vote is locked in this November.

He'll be a martyr in prison, too. He needs to have a massive, disabling stroke so his followers can see him look irredeemably weak.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

I bet they still rally around their God-Emperor.

And like I've said before you can what-if martyrdom all you want, but whoever comes after him won't have the the history and boomer-mania he has. You think Vance or DeSantis can lead the maga moron collective stupidity the Trump voter base contains? No.

Trump has the half-century of being a garbage human in the public sphere that is propped mainly by old people now also in the twilight of their lives that wanted to be like him in the 80s. Him staying relevant makes their outdated racism and intolerance acceptable in a world t:hat is moving forward and saying "enough is enough"

"...because we will make that illegal."

[–] ravhall@discuss.online 6 points 3 weeks ago

They’ll make being un-pregnant illegal.

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 34 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh is he rolling out free child care, healthcare?

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't forget food for children at home and in schools!

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Paid parental leave for both parents too, I'm sure!

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 4 points 3 weeks ago

Damn, and he just threw in the 3-day workweek too. I totally misjudged the guy

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 31 points 3 weeks ago

Your face putting off women from having sex is not the same thing as getting them to not think about abortions.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 30 points 3 weeks ago

I'm sure that's true.

I think people in China don't think about crimes the CCP punishes with the death penalty much either.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 21 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I know an orange turd I would never like to think about again.

[–] EarthShipTechIntern@lemm.ee 18 points 3 weeks ago

Is it just me or do the loudest voices about abortion just stand as living examples of why (their) abortion should have happened?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

What he meant to say: When he is elected again, women won't be allowed to think.

[–] PedroMaldonado@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So, it's all just a stream of fucking nonsense, isnt it? I gotta wonder how its like for folks actually there. They arent even listening, are they?

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

My friend has a theory that he doesn't even have thoughts in the conventional sense. He speaks by simply stringing sounds together that he thinks sounds good.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

One that's been trained on its own output for too long.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

Didn't he call it "weaving"? Had linguistic "friends" who said he was a "genius" because he brings in so many "topics" and "ties" them all back together? Huh, lotta quotes up there. Almost like it's sarcasm.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 14 points 3 weeks ago

So he is going to make it a thought crime?

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Have to wonder how long his clueless ass would survive if his handlers walked out

[–] ThePantser@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

"Won't have to think about it" or "don't even think about it" if he's president?

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Execution of child after birth.... Yeah I missed that talking point at the DNC.

[–] MiDaBa@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 weeks ago

He had them at "women won't even think..."

[–] ProIsh@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I play a game where I think of the dumbest shit to say when I think of a topic and I'll be he wins every damn time. Must be a natural idiot.

[–] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

If you read everything he says as Zack Brannigan from Futurama, it makes it hilarious.

[–] rigatti@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Is that Zapp Brannigan's older, less charismatic brother?

[–] Flipper@feddit.org 5 points 3 weeks ago

A thought crime is exactly what Americans need right now.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

They will think of it more.

[–] collapse_already@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

If elected, America's collective libido will be completely destroyed. Because no one will be having sex, no one will be thinking about abortion.

I suppose it's technically true, in a very dark, dark way.

Because you can't think once you're dead: https://www.propublica.org/article/georgia-abortion-ban-amber-thurman-death
