Hi all, I am trying to choose my next game for the SD and I figured I'd check in with the hive mind here on reddit. I am going through a quite stressful and not-so-easy moment in my life, and I'd like to get something to unwind and distract me at the end of the day. The ideal requirements would be something like

  • Good story/cast of characters which can keep me playing and feel immersed
  • Environment/plot gives good vibes and doesn't end up being too bleak or depressing (looking at you, Elden Ring)
  • Not too difficult or complex. Ideally, an ARPG which is not too challenging. Many classic JRPGS might fall out of the scope here if I have to put too much mental effort into them.
  • Runs well on SD (hence why I am asking this here)

So far, contenders for this place are

  • Harvestella (ticks all the boxes, but I have read mixed reviews and I wanted to double check with people)
  • Atelier series
  • Sea of Stars (the main cast of characters, I have heard, is pretty good)
  • Trials/Visions of Mana

The last time I was in this situation, Tales of Arise did a decent job at helping me through it (despite some heavy themes going on in the plot, the dynamics between characters were entertaining enough to keep me going) so other Tales Of might work as well.

Thanks yall!
