My wife and I started to enjoy this show initially but some of the age gaps raised some eyebrows and we dropped it

I haven't started this yet. What kind of age gaps?

One of his "girlfriends" later is...14.

Edit: ICK. One of his cousins later becomes one.

She is 12.

......

Oh jeez. That's worse than I thought.

And the subreddit is completely okay with this. They're like "oh he HAS to date his cousin because she will die..." "It's fiction" "it's a harem anime, incest was expected" etc

Without ever stopping to think...you know the mangaka could have just said "no, I don't think I should write that?"

Are you new to manga and anime?

I think no one really pays attention to fictional age in anime. People tend to enjoy the show.

The biggest age gap is between the MC, aged 16 and his 89 year old girlfriend, who is the grandmother of his other girlfriend. As you can see, this series takes itself very seriously.

I gave the first series a pass when it was on, is this something worth binging to catch up for?

Add: Thanks for the feedback. Gonna hold my pass on these because of some icky plot elements as pointed out elsewhere in this post.

I prefer the manga, simply because it's easier to gloss over the parts that I'm less interested in. The anime adaptation is quite good though and the animation in the comedic scenes is well paced and high quality.

Id say not. But you do you

The guy is using a.i art to create the characters, don't watch it because it may also be a.i writing in certain rumors since he stood so low to use a.i

I've never heard about this and I can't find anything on the internet either.

Oh shit where are you seeing this?

I watched the first season, partly because some reviewers pointed out that it depicted the multiple relationships of the protagonist more like an actual polyamorous relationship than a typical harem anime. I would have to agree with this specifically in regard to the first half of the season when there are two or three girls involved with the protagonist. He actually goes out of his way to understand the needs of each partner and diffuse conflicts between the girls.

However, this dynamic breaks down fast when more girls are introduced, and the show rapidly devolves into a typical harem comedy, losing any aspect of realism or wholesomeness. Because of that I have no interest in the second season as I expect it to only get worse.
