May the gigabits be plentiful and lag-free this year! Amen!

Ahh, a voice changer right where it belongs: on the ankle.

[off topic]

I like to read old science fiction and check out the things the authors got wrong.

Maybe my favorite is the 'mini VHS recorders' from Neuromancer.

I wanted a Dick Tracy watch so badly. Tech just decided to skip all of that and put a screen on a watch. Boo.

What they really got wrong was the clothing: so much anime/hentai.

This is a techno-goth.

This is me, as long as you replace the Powerbook with a Thinkpad T420.

This was cringe even in the '90s.

I used to read it while pooping as a perl programmer at one of my first jobs

Obligatory Johnny Mnemonic:

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This image obtained with a 1990s micro camera?

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nah, scanned with that Logitech Portable Scanner.

[–] celsiustimeline@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm assuming the Scan Man 32 for Mac resulted in Game Boy Camera quality images.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

EasyTouch maxed out at 400 DPI and the 256 was 256 shades of grayscale.

It doesn't say when the original ScanMan Color came out or how many colors it had but the Color 2000 didn't come out until '96 and had a 24 million color pallette.

So, yeah, sounds about right for the ScanMan 32.

This guy looks straight out of the film Hackers.

Also, for real, mirrorshade sunglasses never went out of style.

[–] pop@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago

That's a lot of black to make sure the clothes glue to your skin in the sun.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 8 points 1 month ago

30 years on, that guy still had all those gadgets dangling from his belt, but now he’s the crazy old guy who lives in the junkyard

Updated for the 21st century: a status quo enforcer with police and presidential loyalty ties that really likes neon and having sex with people that like neon while maintaining the status quo in a way that makes them a Legend of Night City(tm).
