A controversial event occurred during the European Fencing Championships in Basel, involving Ukrainian Olena Kryvytska and Russian Maya Guchmazova, who represented Georgia.

Source: Champion

After the fight, which Kryvytska won with the score of 15:9, the Ukrainian refused to shake hands with her Russian opponent. Guchmazova cursed in response: "Fu**, why are they allowed sh** like this, who the fu** do they think they are?"

Maybe stop beheading Ukrainian POWs and people will treat you more respectfully? Just a thought.

Who the fuck do they think they are

I dunno, man, you came at her with a sword and now you're complaining she doesn't like you? Sounds very Russian to me.

A hand shake is usually mandatory in fencing tournaments. I think it was initially weakened as part of distancing rules during Covid but the rules are still in place: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/07/27/world/europe/ukraine-fencer-olga-kharlan-russia.html

I too wouldn't shake the hands of a person who's from the country currently invading, pillaging, and raping my land and its people.

Rules or no, they need to take in some considerations when you have two opponents from currently warring countries. She's lucky that she didn't want to touch her. I'd be using that fencing sword like it was a real fight even after it was declared over.

I'm not saying that I would. I was explaining that since covid there is precedent to allow not shaking hands.

Ahhh okay I see now. Apologies if I came off hostile in anyway, totally not my intention.

Russian Maya Guchmazova, who represented Georgia.

So pathetic that all over professional sports, Russians are just able to declare they represent different countries (or the neutral flag) and just continue.

Has she tried shutting the fuck up? If that doesn't work she can always drop dead
