Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

I couldn't find the Sudanese marine corps headquarters but it's probably shaped like a crayon.

Have to say if this was a bombing mission this really helps remove any ambiguity from targeting strategies.

This is 1940s thinking. Who is going to bomb them with bombs that aren't smart? The buildings are presumably on Google maps anyways.

Eew what kinda weird link is that. It doesnt wanna open maps in the browser and tries to force you to open it in the google maps app instead. So i literally cant look at what u posted at all.

[–] tobogganablaze@lemmus.org 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Went straight to the browser for me.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah it, does but from there it tells you to "open in app" but i havent had any google shit on my phone for years. And its not using the standardized geo format so it wont open in other map apps.

Dark pattern - hit open, hit cancel if you do have GMaps installed, then redirects to the web version.

The shorter URL is ~~easier to track users with~~ shorter for UX reasons.

You just press open. The text is very confusing, though.

What if it's just an inside joke & actually the buildings purposes are the opposite!

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

The European Maritime Safety Agency building is two ships linked together.

It's what makes their forces so feared and powerful.

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Their forces have mainly been preoccupied with been killing their own citizens in recent years
