Tangentially related, but I was posting and then just got captivated by a video I already saw days ago. This is just so fuckin mesmerizing. Especially that bridge into the showoff... hnnng.

In most jazz records with an upright bass, the bass is mixed very low, which is basically in keeping with how it usually sounds live, even though the bass is almost always mic'ed nowadays. Goddamn shame IMO. Jazz with electric bass (which is usually fusion) is usually better about this.
