I just assume they had a bad day and can't afford headphones or they broke or whatever. I dunno. When someone goes something annoying around me I just assume they need to do that annoying thing to regulate and help themselves deal with this absolutely hellish world we live in.

Also you can get corded earbuds for like 5 bucks at Walmart.

I think I got my earbuds for like $17 at Best Buy and they're fine.

17 bucks is about the baseline for decent wired headphones IMO.
