Please, for the love of all gods or none, if you're an open source project, DO NOT USE discord!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! There are multiple open source applications/services that you can use.
Every FOSS project:
To those who want to have their software used by others:
Matrix/Element, Stoat, & Codeberg are the ways to go
Stoat is the best Discord alternative. Also, Codeberg for Github alternative

Fully agree with Discord argument.
Regarding Codeberg instead of GitHub, I disagree. Codeberg's aggressive anti-bot protection system frequently locks out many IP ranges from the country I live (Brazil). It's extreme policy on forks and private repositories also limits the functionality of the platform.
The Developer did a poll on mastodon asking where the project should be hosted and nearly anyone voted for Codeberg.
It's sad that the anti-bot protection blocks you out of Codeberg, but its still far better than Github.
I never said anything about not hosting on codeberg. On the contrary, I host my projects there and encourage people to do it too and even donate to them.
