Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.
All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.
If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also xcancle.org (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.
Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.
Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.
Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.
Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

The problem is that Trump is possibly even more senile. This is not at all in good faith and you can safely just not support this
I said up front that I don’t really agree with the way this is being handled, nor do I think this is being done in good faith.
What I’m saying is that, unlike with the rest of the Trump admin’s policies, they actually have the kernel of a legitimate point to make on this one. Further, if people don’t want this sort of thing to happen again, the parties simply need to avoid electing people who are mentally unfit. Trump is also clearly mentally unfit, and his orders should also be overturned and ignored going forward.
This isn’t support for the Trump administration or their bad faith efforts. This is me saying that if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. It should not be surprising that the dementia-president’s orders are being questioned.
oh no hexbear user #537 jokingly "supported" the GOP policy
that changes something surely
It's good to correct errors and that user clearly was not joking
I will not be made to respect liberal norms and clutch pearls when Trump acts like a bull in a china shop, I really couldn't care less about American legal precedent and overturning previous presidential decisions, it's entirely pointless to care about
agreed. redshirt made an entirely reasonable point that if someone's brains are leaking out their ears, they shouldn't be signing executive orders.
the actual solution here isn't to take one miniscule measure at a time like disallowing autopen above a certain age, it's to overhaul the entire political machine and culture so that miserable, senile old fucks aren't in decision making positions in the first place. obviously this GOP tactic is bad faith because they've got their own senile fuck on the throne now, but redshirt isn't incorrect.
