What even is the actual fortnite called now then? Battle royale?

The Battle Royale portion is called Fortnite Battle Royale. The true original Fortnite was a sandbox defense game that is now known as Fortnite: Save the World. They are both accessible from the Fortnite lobby.

Very confusing.

They're trying to create a Super-app, similar to what WeChat is in China, but for games. Very interesting concept, there's a lot of videos about the concept. Though I detest the idea of centralized apps and accounts therefore more central tracking of you.

Like Roblox, actually. They are trying to stanch the users' leaking out of their cash cow, but shoving everything in will just piss off the kids when fourth 50+ GB patch hits. As for Rocket League, they already mismanaged it to shit, the levels have lost all flair years ago, new ones are inexplicably ugly.

Don't forget, too, that quite a few people now play No-Build Battle Royale. Honestly it's just Nite at this point.
