US President Donald Trump is boasting of having brought peace to the Middle East, a claim that is wildly exaggerated. But he has, at least for the moment, brought an end to Israel's genocide in Gaza.

Trump's willingness to use the tools of his office to pressure Israel into accepting his terms for a ceasefire - terms quite favourable to Israel but falling short of the ambitions of its far-right government - reflects poorly on his predecessor, Joe Biden, and his 2024 presidential challenger, Kamala Harris.

It also vindicates the anti-Trump critics within the Democratic Party who implored their leaders to take a forceful stand against Israel's genocide, warning they could lose the election if they refused.

I know right? Literally by simply existing in office in 2025 Biden could have accomplished the same or better. Because Trump did nothing. It's true that both of them suck. But their desperate need to continue to attack Biden. To draw attention away from the fact that they campaigned against the only viable candidates against the fascists. There by helping the fascist win. Is hilariously sad.

If you don't care about palestinians do not comment in a post about palestine. Both Biden and Trump are war criminals and genocide enablers

If you have nothing to have other than a straw man. Maybe you shouldn't reply.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The strawman is you defending Biden and talk about facism which is a real threat under Trump but has nothing to do with Palestine

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oooh second strawman. Saying that a senile old man like Biden simply existing in office in 2025 could have accomplished as much as Trump is hardly a defense. You want to know what has nothing to do with Palestine? Trumps cease fire. It was violated practically within 24 hours. They're still waiting for actual help trapped between genocidal Israel and bloodthirsty Hamas. And peacemaker Trump isn't going to lift a finger to do anything more that he's already done, which is nothing.

Don't use words you don't understand. Also what's up with cultists like you selective reading? Where did you see me defend Trump and saying that he is better than Biden?

[–] Ardent@kbin.earth 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They've used it correctly. You've twice attacked them for things they didn't say.

They're probably referencing Trump is because the article is. all in all, they're showing much better reading comprehension than yours.

It's a joke and absolute bullshit to talk about what Biden/Democrats could learn of moral failures compared to an immoral or ammoral person like Trump.

You just another cultist with selective reading He mentionned things unrelated to palestine. He used the stupid excuse of Biden being senile to minimize his complicty as if Biden was never a big supporter of Israel . Trump also is a big supporter of Isrsel yet you fools claims that I defend Trump
