Does anyone have any recommendations for software that will notify me or provide a feed for new releases from artists in my music library.

If you don't want exclusively foss, then a Google alert can do the trick. Noise or for concerts of bands I want to see but it can be used for things like this too. Obviously not for you, if you want to not have a Google account. If you already have one, you can get some of the benefits that they take all your data in exchange for. From what I can see, it's still a non monetosed service.
