You're rather missing the point. The left right paradigm neglects another dimension of freedom. Most of the "both siders" want to equate authoritarian right wing statements with moderate left wing in order to create a false equivalency and implying that they're all the same, and stuff like this shifts the Overton window towards right wing authoritarianism.

Certainly, he's well within his rights not to discuss politics. Counter to your point, he's actually been pretty happy to discuss his politics. Not just supporting Bernie but happy to call those who voted for the current POTUS "fucking morons".
