United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Surprise surprise, the billionaires using money to manipulate society.
This is to be expected. You yourself are trying to manipulate society with your comment.
What would be surprising is if billionaires didn't attempt to manipulate society in their interests.
Damn, I didn't realize our comments on a random lemmy instance have the same power as Elon Musk's billions.
I didn't comment on scale of impact, only intent. Please don't put words in my mouth.
Scale is everything here. That the problem.
Billionaires are allowed to live in society, I think it is fair however that we take issue that their attempts to bring about a violent right-wing ultra-nationalist revolution. It sort of feels like they're taking free will a bit too far.
Allowed to live sure but I'd argue they shouldn't be allowed to exist as billionaires.
that kind of wealth is just immoral, unreasonable by the scale of human's lifetime, and exploitative by nature.
No, they're the ones who allow, not the ones who are allowed.
At this point I have no idea what you're trying to say with any of your comments. All of the words individually make sense and even the sentences are valid, but the end result don't form into a coherent thought.
To "allow" a thing means that some actor has the power to give or deny permission for the thing. There are no actors who have the power to deny permission for there to be billionaires in society. Indeed, billionaires are the category of actors who have more power to give or deny permission than any other category, particularly when it comes to how society is constituted.
