The way I was thinking of it was exactly that, while Tom Bombadil physically possessed the ring, he made no claims to ownership of it. Déagol both laid claim to it and had it in his possession, so even though it was only long enough for Sméagol to suffocate him and take it, for those 5 minutes he had it the ring was indeed his. To Tom Bombadil it was the equivalent to seeing a neat stick or rock, he picked it up to study it but then put it back. He didn't want to own it, just to look at it.
I forgot Deagol even had a chance to speak
I actually found a replica of the One Ring on the floor at work sometime wonder if I could get in on this grift.
A replica how? Cause it generally just kinda looks like a wedding ring
It has the full inscription in Tolkien's conlang/alphabet.
Without setting it on fire? Nerds will know its fake. Im a giant Tolkien nerd, sell it to someone who is one of those. Itd be easier.
