Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

There's way too much going on right now for me to really focus on any one country this week. The aftermath of the fall of the Nepal government has, somewhat surprisingly, reverberated around the world, and not only in countries that are enemies to the West as you'd expect; for example, Morocco's government battle fiercely with Egypt's and Jordan's to be first in line to lick the dogshit off the boots of Zionists, and yet Morocco is currently embroiled in a large protest wave based primarily around a youth unemployment crisis (though their population is also remarkably pro-Palestinian, which generates additional friction). We're also seeing similar protests in Madagascar, Peru, and Paraguay, and perhaps more will come. I'm personally fairly doubtful in the potential for meaningful economic results from these protests (the current imperialist system seems too deeply embedded for a movement that isn't explicitly communist and anti-imperialist to alter conditions), but it is quite possible for new political results at least.

Outside of the developing world, it appears that the unpopularity of western leaders, such as in the UK, France, and Italy, is creating new levels of unrest. In Britain, the political system has become so utterly moribund that even the artificial democracy of a two-party system (more-or-less; the Lib Dems do exist I suppose) no longer suffices, with both Conservatives and Labour gradually sinking. The Reform party appears like it may become the new standard-bearer of the capitalists and petit-bourgeois - that is, the historical wellspring of fascism - and the Left Party (whatever name they eventually choose) may or may not rise to meet the occasion. In France, they're on their fifth Prime Minister in two years, after Lecornu lasted about a month, attempting the liberal classic: promising change, and then appointing the exact same people who have ruled for the last few decades. And pro-Palestinian protests and general strikes have erupted in Italy, in defiance of their rightwing government under Meloni.

While there's plenty of other events (e.g. continuing aggression against Venezuela that might soon erupt into a war) it would be remise of me not to mention the very much ongoing events vis-a-vis Palestine and a potential peace deal there, seemingly supported to some degree by Trump. It could be legitimate, and it could be some big act (very likely the latter, IMO). Both Trump and Netanyahu seem to believe that they're very talented political masterminds, producing manoeuvres and feints that would make Machiavelli blush. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I trust the militant organizations inside Palestine to outplay these American failsons. Hamas and similar groups are not nearly as gullible as the Iranian reformist faction - though few people are!

The Zionist Entity's Genocide of Palestine

If you have evidence of Zionist crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.

Please, end this country. I am ready to die for the sin of being argentinian I don't give a fuck anymore this place is actually worse than fucking "ISRAEL"

Milei throws self-produced rock show amid Espert narco scandal

The president performed Argentine songs with his band before presenting his new book as part of the election campaign.

President Javier Milei used the election campaign to let his rock frontman ambitions run free, performing with his band on Monday night as part of a book launch. The event was his first campaign rally after the resignation of José Luis Espert as La Libertad Avanza’s main deputy candidate, amid a critical moment for the government.

Milei mentioned Espert only in passing and did not speak about the scandal that links the now former candidate to alleged drug trafficker Fred Machado. The only reference he made was a phrase addressing the opposition: “You may have won this round, but not the battle.” Diego Santilli, Milei’s pick to replace Espert on the ballot, attended the concert and the president stepped off the stage to hug him.

Alright fellas you got our man, a narco, but you will not get the rest of us!

Milei sang popular Argentine songs with his musical group, The Liberal Band, at the Movistar Arena stadium in front of 15,000 supporters. After the show, he presented his new book, Building the Miracle.

The president euphorically performed iconic songs like Demoliendo Hoteles (Charly García), Dame Fuego (Sandro), and No Me Arrepiento de Este Amor (Gilda), all in rock version. In between songs, he took a moment to pay homage to U.S. far-right activist Charlie Kirk and ratify his support for Israel, singing the traditional Hebrew chant Hava Nagila.

lmfao. The fact that he drags Charly García's still alive body around the dirt for this shit ass far right rally is insane. Charly always stood against whatever the fuck milei now is. Also lmao at milei thinking he's jewish, he's not and he will never be a Jew.

Milei is a known rock enthusiast. He usually sings his favorite song, La Renga’s Panic Show, during rallies and events. In May 2024, he did a similar show with his band at the Luna Park stadium, also as part of a book launch.

(La Renga absolutely hate this bozo)

Among the attendees also were several members of the government, including Presidency Secretary Karina Milei and Lower House Head Martín Menem, who are accused of taking bribes from pharmaceutical companies in exchange for state contracts. This scandal, along with the Espert allegations, put the government in a very difficult spot amid a delicate economic situation and the upcoming elections. Despite this situation, Milei showed himself in a frenetic state, singing along lawmaker and longtime friend Lilia Lemoine, who joined the band as backup singer.

During the performance, the screens also played a deep-fake Star Wars video of Milei as Luke Skywalker being attacked by The First Order, with ex-President Cristina Kirchner and Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kicillof as the antagonists.

jesus fucking christ this is beyond ridiculous.

Attendees sang chants mocking Kirchner using an ankle monitor during her house arrest. They also chanted Kuka tira piedras, which can be translated to “stone-throwing Kuka,” a derogatory term to refer to Kirchnerist supporters. Milei joined in to sing along and encourage them.

Only one missile Xi, it's all I ask for...

And as always: Death to "israel"

There are decades when nothing happens, and nights when rock shows happen
