General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

To be clear, she wants a vote on it because she opposes the Supreme Court decision:

Ms Powell, who is standing against Bridget Phillipson in the contest to replace Angela Rayner as Labour deputy leader, told members the party had got some of its language around Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) guidance "not right".

Ms Powell said she would be continuing to "support the trans community which I represent in my constituency very well and have done for a long time. I'm a woman, I'm a feminist and I see absolutely no contradiction in being a woman and also supporting the trans community to feel included and to have their rights as well" [my emphasis].

More reasons to vote for Powell, IMO.

After the whole article, I still don't know is she's voting for or against trans people being forced to use a bathroom matching their biological sex rather than gender.
