Suggesting there is a middle path approach to issues of racism, misogyny, and homo-/transphobia.
Sounds like a fucking dork to me.
*all one breath* AMERICA IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN AN EXPLICITLY CHRISTIAN NATION, YOU CAN'T JUST COME IN HERE AND ACT LIKE ANYONE NOT CHRISTIAN ISN'T JUST DOING IT WRONG (like you've always done) BUT NOW IS ESSENTIALLY GUILTY OF TREASON, THAT IS NOT OKAY! *giant Kirby-level breath*
*Clarification: Directed at MAGA, of course, not this commenter
Yes this true but I'd like to provide one example in reference to Virginia's Casual Killing act of 1669.
This exempted slavers from facing felony charges for killing their slaves if they resisted punishment.
The scriptural basis of this is Exodus 21:20-21
Implying that you can indeed kill your slave as long as it doesn't happen immediately.
Now this was before the declaration of independence but drafting laws after scripture has a longstanding history in the US.
America may not explicitly be a Christian nation, but implicitly, there are far too many that strongly believe it is.
