Meanwhile On Grad
Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in unrelated arguments.
Brigading — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from voting, commenting or manipulating the post in any way, this includes alt accounts. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be permanently banned.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

Is there a better term to describe Lemmy + Piefed + Mbin + Mastodon + whatever else is connected to them? I don’t think it’s the full Fediverse since I don’t see Threads users, for example. I could just be confused. In any case, since the .ml admins are the Lemmy devs, that experience will only change so much for those users, so it might be better to use a different term to draw users and instances away from that software and onto alternatives.
I've switched to the neutral term "Threadiverse" as that seems applicable to all "Reddit style forums and link aggregators" for most things
I use Lemmy-verse here because the next biggest, PieFed, already has the entire Triad as part of their default blocks in the new instance setup flow (which btw Tankies hate PieFed and have declared it to be "anti-communist software trying to push out Lemmy" lmao)
Why not fediverse? I'd argue that Threadiverse is far from a neutral term; it implicitly ascribes ownership of all these spaces to Meta.
The term "Thrediverse" got coined before Meta wanted to try their hand at EEE with the Fediverse iirc
Also "Fediverse" is already taken to mean the overarching umbrella for any software that uses the ActivityPub protocol, everything from Loops to Masto to Friendica to PieFed
That's fair. I still don't like it—I think lots of people will assume it's called that because of Threads—but I don't have any better ideas. ¯\(ツ)/¯
isnt THREADS controlled by META, aka facebook, instagram. they are more likely to push right wing content than not.
Threads is antithetical to everything the fediverse stands for, so you can still use the term because it doesn't get to claim the term.
Minor detail that isn't relevant to the topic, kbin doesn't work anymore but Mbin exists as a branch thanks to kbin being open sourced.
Thanks, I’ve corrected my comment. I can’t keep up with all of this stuff and the back end side of things gets lost on me
Then you've got my instance that's running mbin but still calls itself kbin.earth. Go figure.
