Even for those in the dogshit US if you get fired for this make sure to document everything from the supervisor, boss, whatever. High potential for them to be made to pay $$ if they're stupid enough to even lightly breathe the "reason" why. Anyone who works at any governmental position local, state or federal will have a pretty much ironclad insta-win case due to first amendment protections. (This wouldn't apply to the military. Different set of laws.) The government is forbidden from restricting speech and every state and locality is beholden to the US constitution plus their own state constitutions which usually echo the first amendment anyway. It would be acceptable for them to fire someone who made a joke in their formal capacity as whatever position. But as just a normal person online or in texts, etc. Nah. You may be stuck in appeals for federal jobs though for years because you know Trump's gonna pay some asshole kid to just deny forever and drag it out. Great country, etc.
