I grew up in an era where adults would smugly tell kids “Don’t believe everything you hear on TV”

My mom doesn't believe Tiananmen Square Massacre happened, but still believe random bullshit from wechat like "Democrats rUiNiNg NYC"... "mIgRaNt cRiSiS" even tho we are (legal) immigrants and probably get lumped together in the eyes of the far right.

Also, "antidepressants don't work" and I just need to "go outside"... outside where ICE is swarming the streets and we're aren't white. Thanks mom, very helpful... 🙃

The American version of tiananmen square didnt happen, and has been stated by multiple journalists and politicians after the fact. There is a real story there just most americans dont know it. Hell, most dont know the tank guy didnt get run over.

"Boston Massacre" back in the American Revolution was only 5 people.

Recently, the Nepal police only killed 19 people and it triggered a revolution.

300 is a serious number even if you believe official numbers. Real numbers could be over 1000. But of course, its impossible to ever know the true death toll because the government has buried all evidence.

Sure I'd agree that 300 is serious, I was simply stating there is a different story thats prominent in the west.
