Call coming from inside the house!

What’s funny is you can’t really become a leftist without understanding enough theory to realize Propaganda of the Deed is a dead end. I don’t know if I’d be bold enough to call it counter revolutionary but for a revolutionary in the modern age it should not be undertaken. This is not 1878, you can’t just shoot a mine boss, and it’s not like we’re living in a global communist utopia because that shit works. It didn’t.

So basically when these murderjunkies pop off the odds of them actually being a leftist are slim to none. You might have a person who is dabbling in leftism or festoons themselves in hammers and sickles but that’s just some bandwagoning, really. You might have a radical liberal who is radicalized along a conventionally “left” vector like gay rights or abortion access but those aren’t really “left” opinions.

Which leaves us with the elephant in the room: the right wing stochastic terror machine and its apparatchiks.

I think Jenkins means if assassinating random capitalists in a disorganized fashion was all that was needed to establish global communist utopia, we would have seen it, and that therefore leftists know this is a failed avenue, and that's why its almost always a rightoid doing these killings, because they don't have the same base knowledge/ analysis of material reality

I don't think people don't merc CEOs because it doesn't work, but because we live in a police surveillance state where doing so is basically a one off exchange of your life for theirs

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 4 points 5 days ago

Which is what makes it no longer a viable tactic to build a revolution.

Yeah there might occasionally be an ultraleftist that attacks state infrastructure or whatever but assasinations haven't been in the US left's playbook for over a hundred years now. Assassination and stochastic terrorism are commonly used tools of the right though especially here in the US. It's no surprise they're being weaponized against rightists especially as their coalition fragments.

It got buried but Elias Rodriguez, member of the PSL, did shoot 2 Israeli diplomats not too long ago. Considering how much of a fringe the left occupies in America, that's not nothing.

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think he had some loose PSL association years ago, but was never a member?

[–] Helios44@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah that's what I remember. He only had loose association and I think they said he never turned up for anything

I just want to be cautious cause if an active party member takes an action like that, the entire org is (theoretically, not legally) liable for that.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 5 days ago

And thats why marxist are against random adventurism when it is not part of a larger military offensive.

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 8 points 5 days ago (2 children)

This feels a little like post hoc rationalization. I mean, I don't exactly disagree with you, but Charlie boy getting killed is a good thing. God knows a lot of good people wanted him dead. I agree it's better if it does indeed turn out to have been CHUD on CHUD violence, but I wouldn't have disavowed a comrade either.

Kirk is replaceable, this accomplished very little besides producing funny memes (which I do appreciate) and terrifying people like Shapiro

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 days ago

That's kind of the best we get right now.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago

it costs them time to build someone else up.

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

if you didn't hear, it sure seems to have turned out that way so good news! He was a chud

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I see the tweet. Just waiting to come across something more primary-sourcey. Got a link?

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I don't know where it is anymore but in a thread I was just looking at someone asked that as well and they posted an nbc article corroborating that journalists tweet, if that helps

It was probably elsewhere in this thread honestly, I have so many tabs open I'm completely lost lol

While I’m reluctant to criticize Red Army Faction, Red Brigades, etc… and the end of the day their approach didn’t work. And we can analyze and understand why it didn’t work.
