Trump ally Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter says.

The extent of Kirk’s injuries were not immediately clear.

trump asked for prayers. They’re going full Christian nationalist with their responses.

Kristi Noem: The secretary of Department of Homeland Security said, “Byron and I are lifting up Charlie, Erika, and their family in our prayers right now.”

Pete Hegseth: “An incredible Christian, American, and human being. May the healing hand of Jesus Christ be upon him,” the secretary of the Department of Defense said in a post on X.

Mike Johnson: The House Speaker asked to pray “for our good friend, Charlie Kirk,” in a post on social media.

Dan Bongino: The deputy FBI director said, “I don’t have the words. God help Charlie and his family.”

Nazis are so goddamn weird.

Audience member: “Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?”

Kirk: “Too many.”

The same audience member went on say the number is five, and proceeded to ask if Kirk knows how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years.

Kirk: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”

Seconds later, the sound of a pop is heard and the crowd screams as Kirk gets shot and recoils in his seat.

Remember: The vast majority of mass attacks in the US have no connection to transgender people. From January 2013 to the present, of the more than 5,700 mass shootings in America (defined as four or more victims shot and killed), five shooters were confirmed as transgender, said Mark Bryant, founding executive director of the Gun Violence Archive.

I believe the trans population is 1% of total population. So 1% of 5700 mass shooters is 57, meaning trans shooters are very underrepresented among mass shooters roughly by a factor of 10.

But why did God allow him to get shot? Really makes ya think

It does make me feel better about the whole "devil protecting Hitler" thing.

Cause this guy was easily evil enough.

The phrase poetic justice has never in history been so correctly applied. We might actually need an entirely new phrase to encapsulate this.

As a Christian, of course I do not believe in cheering on the demise of the enemy, but I'm not at all surprised this happened, and I can't say I'm particularly bothered with one less fascist voice riling up more hatred.

Their "christian nationalist" response narrative is disgusting, as no man advocating any of the crap this guy was saying, could be called "a good Christian" when he spent his life actively spreading division, mistrust, hatred, bigotry.

Prayers from Kristi "executed my puppy because he ruined my hunt" Noem are a blasphemous notion.

Pete "Lol bros lets bomb Yemen lmao 🦅🇺🇸" Hesgeth is the last wretch who should be invoking the name of Jesus.

Believers NEED to regain control of the Christian identity and shine a light through these vile monsters and their blood soaked crusade.

The Palestinian Jewish laborer who lived under a foreign empire's rule and taught people to love their enemies and turn the other cheek did not know this man.

If Christianity is correct hell gained a new angel yesterday

Yeah I think that horse has left the barn.

I hear you, but hey, so has a functioning democracy, but nobody sane is calling for giving up on that one. :)

They have zero original thoughts. Their very identity relies on violently stealing and perverting the institutions of the people to serve their own ends.

They need to be held accountable for their villainy and have that identity wrestled back from them. The more they're called out, ridiculed, and ostracized for being so freaking weird, the more they're called out by believers for being evil, the less sway they'll have.

I think a lot of the sway the right currently holds among that population is entirely due to how the left just went "Peh, religion stoopid" and gave up on all of them. The fascists figured out what buttons to push, and dug them in deeper.

(Definitely check out: "How the Rich Ate Christianity" parts 1 and 2 from "Behind the Bastards".)

Religion, in general, is arguably the root cause of the most death, despair and human suffering in the history of our species. It’s even partly responsible for this current administration gaining power and definitely a supporting catalyst for project 2025…

So I can’t really read your post and not eye roll. There is no peace with religion existing outside of theory.

Are most religions good in a vacuum? Where their doctrine is followed and purely extrapolated to modern society and issues? Sure. But this doesn’t mean shit in practice. Religions cannot exist peacefully side-by-side as history has painfully demonstrated… When you boil it all down, it’s purely a tool to manipulate the participants into aiding ulterior motives of others.

We would be better off as a species if religion was eradicated and otherwise treated like the human disease it is.

No I get how you mean, I just think it's not even possible to convince MAGAts that trump is a demented rapist when it's right in front of them - how to, if you'll pardon the expression, resurrect Christianity as it was "meant" to be with them? I just can't see it.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Point of order.

This was not a mass shooting.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Charlie Kirk did in fact have mass...

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Bastards are obviously making him a martyr. Meanwhile thousands have been violently manhandled for not being "fit" to be "American".

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I am curious to know when these fuck wits say that they are praying for someone. How many of them are actually sincere and pray vs how many is just a performative action.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Pretty sure we have a good handle on that answer.
