There's definitely a subculture in the gun rights movement of the US that tries (and often succeeds) in selling the idea that people who oppose gun rights are opposing LGBT/minority rights.

No amount of individual gun-owning gays are gonna stop a trained militia carrying out orders to drag you away (or worse). The 2A disproportionately protects white, right wing gun owners whilst being easily infringed against the BPP and others that could achieve self-defense against the state.

Even moreso, "socialist" gun clubs like SRA are handing people membership cards and encouraging the usual liberal 2A enjoyer to politely follow the rules and register their guns, submit to background checks, etc. which are proven to be toothless against fascist terror attacks but very convenient for the ATF officers looking to criminalise your twitter posts.

I only know what I know as a brit who followed some 2A leftists on Twitter a while ago. While I think there needs to be firearms training and ownership incl. arming vulnerable communities, assuming the provisions that allow that under the state that's trying to kill you are ever going to favour you is a fool's errand, and a bloody one at that.
