I don't see it that way. The 30's comment could easily just be a reference to the "32 years old" in the OP.

Being new to the US or seeing it for the first time is a valid question, too, as again, the referenced phenominon is not new. It could've been posted in the 2010's, the 2000's, the 90's, the 80's, etc...

Asking if someone has just noticed is only insulting depending on tone, and text does not convey tone. So any animosity is your own reading of the text. Why do you view simple questions as confrontational?
