If you want another suggestion, LibreWolf is also pretty decent. Chuds hate it and I've been using it for a long while, to my satisfaction.
Gonna try LibreWolf then. I just hope at least "Restore previous session" works properly
On Firefox I have it set to always reopen my previous tabs and that works a lot more reliably
If that one doesn't work for you i use Floorp and it's pretty good. The like defaults are not ideal, but its got a ton of customization options.
Also some Browser Extensions: Get these from the firefox extension store.
Ublock Origin: General adblock and doesn’t need much configuring. If it doesn’t block something you want gone you can right click it and block it manually.
Alternative Player for Twitch.tv: This will add a new web player for twitch streams which will block ads in the streams. It will drop the resolution while it blocks them to 480p and say “Hiding Ads” in the corner. I am pretty sure the streamer still gets paid since it has no way to know you arent watching them.
ClearURLs: Removes tracking elements from URLs
I still don’t care about cookies: Will get rid of annoying cookie pop ups on most sites by just accepting them automatically.
Sponsorblock for YouTube – Skip Sponsorships: Names self explanatory. Community powered so some new videos wont be flagged yet. You can configure what is skipped and isnt.
A few others I find useful, Dont Track Me Google, Twitch Channel Points Autoclicker, Unwanted Twitch, Youtube-shorts block, Pinyin Web(For learning chinese), Dark Reader.
CleanURL's is unnecessary if you have uBlock Origin installed:
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Static-filter-syntax#removeparam
Same thing with I still don't care about cookies. Use the two default Cookie Notice filters in UBO.
For the Google tracking you can use Multi-Account Containers, but that's an upgrade rather than a replacement.
I'm pretty sure a few of the Twitch ones can be solved with Tapermonkey and various scripts, but don't quote me as I don't use Twitch.
Just remember - the more extensions you install the easier it is to track you.
I might have to give this a go, thank you.
LibreWolf is just Firefox.
The software? Yeah. But not the config. Compared to regular Firefox, I've had no "sync" or "mozilla account" bullshit to deal with. Sure, you can manually customize Firefox to be identical to LibreWolf, but LibreWolf is still an option for someone who wants a plug-and-play browser without having to go through the work of customizing Firefox.
yeah it's just nice to use the normal firefox browser because you get updates immediately when it releases. But maye LibreWolf releases quickly too.
Been a Librewolf user for ages and had no idea the devs were lefties. That's nice. Too many people in foss/privacy spaces are frankly outright nazis
Another vote for librewolf. It does hog memory for me though, and I'll be looking for that FF tab unloader mentioned elsewhere in this thread (LW is based on FF).
